I just had a consultation with Elite Photography in Bay Ridge Brooklyn and for 3 grand we would get a 10X8 leather bound album with 36 photos, unlimited proofs in color and black and white, 6 8X10s, 40 wallet. He will do 10 hours of coverage. Is this good??

Sounds like a good deal to me, especially since you are getting the albums. Mine without albums is costing 3k.

no way .. i'm paying a thousand more and am getting 4xtimes that in my package.. i get our album, two parent albums, 150 thank yous, 4 different size enlargements, two brag books, and engagment shots

my entire package with 2 photographers , 10 hours of coverage.. and a videographer wiht 3 dvds' is 5800 ... but i cant even ask for more or better customer service they are awesome

it all depends on who you use and what you get...i picked mine for their experience and style..i am paying more for them but i know I will get the quality and look that i want..and the exact photographers I hired, not some stand in. i do photography so my pics are very important to me.

Are you getting a copy of the digital proofs?
I am getting: Photographer/assistant E-Pics 10 Hrs 8X10 Magazine style (20/40 pages) ALL high resolution proofs 3 months online hosting
just over 3k
Mostly, I am paying for the quality of the pics. FM for more info

I have a GREAT photographer and for about 800.00 more.. I am getting 1 20 page 10x10 leather MAGAZINE album, 2 5x7 leather matted parent albums 1 11x14, 2 8x10's, 5 5x7's 75 thank yous, all prrofs, digital albums... so I would have to say you can find a better deal

Here's what I was specifically quoted for less than $3,500:
2 photographers bridal album (I forget the size, but it's really nice) 3 11x14s 6 or 8 8x10s 75 thank you cards 300 proofs in an album, rest in a box 1 DVD of all pics in color 1DVD of pics in black & white, color, and sepia 1 DVD of 10 pics digitally enhanced engagement picture session all engagement pics in an album mini pocket size album of engagement pics 1 8x10 engagement pic in frame for reception (displayed with album for guests to view)

Honestly I think you need to judge the price on the quality of work. I have seen expensive photography that looks crappy and the editing *****. I have seen inexpensive that looks great. I am paying 5000 for my photography but I fell in love with their work. You should be looking to pay for quality and not quantity. Just because someone paid the same as you does not mean the quality and professionalism will be the same. Don't forget you are also paying for the experience of the company as well. Good luck with your search. Def look to see whom else has used your photographer and compare the work not just prices when you look at diff photgraphers. Good luck with your search.
