I am a little confused about my understanding of certain photography packages and pricing... my fiance and I met with a photographer who had done a wedding that we went to last fall. Very professional and artistic looking photos and they edit every single photo they give you. Though we would be looking at AT LEAST around 3k for 300+ photos, not including prints but just a dvd with ready-to-print images and one album.
The DJ that I am working with mentioned a photographer who he works with that he could get for the whole day for around $1200 and I would probably end up with 1000 photos. Somehow I doubt that any of these photos would be edited at all, considering the DJ told us that we would get every photo except for the bad ones (ie, blurry, thumb in the way, etc.).
I am definitely worried about the editing because whenever I am nervous or emotional (which, hello, I will probably be like this all day) my skin gets blotchy red spots all over it (my face, my arms, my neck, everything), and I do not want every single photo to look like this. So, if I have to, I would be willing to pay for editing, but I am not sure what to expect for pricing for this. Am I right to assume that the huge difference in price for these two companies is because of the editing?
Also, if anyone can recommend a photographer who does photo editing and could be more affordable than the first one I spoke of, please let me know. My fiance and are are pretty much footing the bill and trying to contain it as best possible! Thanks for your help!!

Re: Photography Help
Gina Esposito but she books up fast because her prices are very competitive.
Also try Lighthouse out east.

I used fade to Black and they were very affordable! Jodie was the best! I also have 'blushing' issues and get blotchy when overheated or nervous. There were a few pics where I could see the blotchiness up close but I'm the only one who notices it and I still look great!!! I wouldn't worry about the redness.

I'd be a little leery about using the DJs photographer. They are typically not professional photographers and probably will not edit your photos (I have a family member in the business). If I'm understanding it right, the photographer that you met with is limiting you to 300 photos? Or is that what you were thinking? Everything is digital and any photographer you use should be shooting your entire wedding and not stopping once they hit a certain number.
We're on a budget too and footing the majority of our wedding bill. That being said, we splurged on our photos. It's the one thing from your wedding that you will have forever...plus your FH, of course We're paying 4k total for photo, video, albums, thank you photos and an engagement photo shoot. It was about double what we planned on spending, but we're getting a lot. Keep in mind that photo is also the one vendor payment that you can stagger and pay part of it after the wedding. You can also opt for a less expensive package and add onto it after the wedding. Park Ave has a $1795 all day package with a low resolution cd of all of your images. You can upgrade to the High-res edited cd for about an extra $250. If when you preview your photos after the wedding and find that you have a little extra $, you can always purchase albums and other items.
So on our package we put $1500 down (even though he only required $1000), we have to pay about $600 when the previews are ready and another &600 when our albums are ready. So that leaves us with $1300 that we have to pay between now and the wedding. Lighthouse packages were more money than Park Avenue. Park Ave shot my best friends wedding and her pics are phenomenal. He is also the recommended photog for Oheka Castle and all of the Lessings venues, so he must be doing something right

Thank you for the input! The one photographer is not limiting us to 300 photos. They just say that the package in question comes with 300+ photos, so that is really just the minimum, and they do a ton of editing with photoshop. It's more of an artsy deal. My FH really likes her, but I am worried that we would be overpaying and not getting nearly as much as what other places offer.
I also thought the same about the photographer that the DJ suggested. They really do not have much sample work on their site, and I did not really care for what I did see. We're preparing ourselves for having to splurge because the photos are really important to us. I am just trying to get an idea of what type of service I can expect for what price.
The retouching is definitely something I would splurge on. While I know a lot of people blush, this is a severe issue with me. I constantly have people freak out on me and ask if I am okay when this happens to me. I literally look like a lava lamp sometimes. Haha
Also, thanks for the suggestions ladies, I will check out these photographers!!

Looked at their website and really liked their stuff! I sent them contact info through their site. If you could give me an idea of the type of package they offered you, I would really appreciate it. We are looking at an affordable videographer tomorrow and might book on the spot, but if this company is anywhere near the cost of that one, I may hold off on booking! Thanks!
