photography issues

photography issues

I posted yesterday that I was going to hire a freelance photographer to shoot some photojournalistic photos at the wedding and put them on a cd in addition to the company I hired for the tradition stuff...So I called my company just to make sure that it would not be a problem, there is nothing in the contract about not being allowed to hire another different person...So he tells me that he would 'rather I chose him' to do this so I inqiure about the price and of course it is out of my range....The reason I was going with the freelance artist was because of the deal...so then he continues to say that he is afraid this other person will affect thier lighting and get in the way of what they need to do....I really want to hire this other person...Should I just do it and he wont know until the wedding or will that cause problems? I dont know what to do!!!

Sounds like your photographer may want more of your money! i would just ask more questions! Ask the freelance photographer some questions about the lighting too! Did he have any concerns about the other photographers lighting?

My reg photo was concerned that the freelance person would ruin their lighting? perhaps i should ask the freelancer what she uses..

There will be tons of people taking pictures at your wedding besides your photographer. Unless your freelance guy plans to bring additional lighting with him beyond the flash mounted on his camera, it shouldn't be a problem. Your photographer (the main one) should no how to deal with other flashes going off while he's taking a picture.

Your photogrpaher is just giving you a ahrd time and he wants your money. If the freelancer is doing photojurnalistic images chances are he wont interfere in posed shots or he'll be off at a different angle, and he won't interfere with your photogrpaher anymore than the guests with their cameras and flashes will interfere. Maybe should put an addendum on your invite t tell guests to leave thier cameras at home! HA!

I have to agree with the other posts here. It does sound like your photographer is just looking to have you book one of his photogs to get more $$$$ out of you. Stick with the freelance photog. You'll be fine and so will your traditional photographer.

THAT IS SUCH BS...your photographer (I'd say dump him, but whatever...your choice) is trying to suck more money out of you!

Ask him what the deal is for a videographer and the DJ - they have lighting that overpowers his - will it affect his work!

Hire the freelancer, you'll probably get better pictures from them anyway!

By the way - my photographer is Marianela Vera and she's photojournalistic, and her rates are incredible - check her out:

hi! i met with your photographer and i can soooo see them telling you what they told you! i would be very firm with them about your decision to hire the photojournalist. people will be flashing their cameras all over the place (especially if you have table cameras) so an additional photographer will do no harm. good luck with them! ~lacey
