photography on a budget -- suggestions?
I''m on a tight budget, and was hoping for recommendations for photographers that can do something in the range of $1500-$1800. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Well, just about any photographer will work with you. There are a lot of them that already have packages in that price range. If there is a photographer you really like, but can't afford him, you might be able to get them to do the work, and then after your wedding, you can use some of that money and get an album? Just an idea. My photographers lowest package I think is $2200. But he's flexible. You should definitely take a few that have been recommended here, and go talk to them. That's what we did. Just tell them your situation. Don't look at photographers that their prices start above what you can spend. Obviously they won't be too flexible if that's their starting price. Good luck!

East Meadow Photography had a package for $1600 which included a lot of stuff. They are on East Meadow Ave. Also Queens bridal in Mineola does not do the package thing. You tell them what you want and they price it like that. They were pretty resonable and in the price range that you mentioned.

My photographer had packages well within your range. We were very happy with the results - you can see shots from our wedding at his web page - www.ericsphotos.com - Karen and Larry under the photo gallery. My advice to keep the initial cost down is to find a package that allows you to add the album after the wedding. The most important thing is to get a lot of negatives to choose from - you can always add to the number of enlargements or add an album on later - the only benefit of doing it in advance is locking in this year's pricing but you'll never get the opportunity to take more photos, so that's where I'd put the money if you have to compromise.

Another way to save a few dollars is not to get the small, wallet thank you photos and get some 5x7s instead. We are only getting 20 wallets to give to close family. A lot of people just end up throwing them in a draw somewhere. Also, get small parent albums (I need three) and if your parents want more photos let them pay the difference. Also, negotiate. You would be surprised what you can get when you say you want XX in your package and want to spend Y. I saved over $1K by telling the photographer that I wanted to use him but needed to get certain things for the money.

Any photographer or studio worth their salt will include the wallet size photos for your thank you''s free of charge. These DO NOT cost a lot for them to produce, so there''s no reason for anyone to negotiate their package based on these. Save negotiation for the important things - like the right type of album. Anything other than a reversible bound library book album is junk.Welcome New Vendors
