Photography Options/Extras

For all the couples who got married, what photography options did you really enjoy and was worth the extra money? Also any option you realized that you could have lived without?

e.g.
Second Photographer/Assistance
Raw Photo Files
Edited Proofs
Prints
Photo Albums
Photo Books
Online Albums
Thank You Cards

Thanx

Online albums I think is big. People want to see your pics and want to see them now. This way you dont have to worry about posting them -- they take care of it for you... and they're password protected.

I think a second photographer is nice if you're going to be having a HUGE wedding.

Especially for pics of the ceremony when you two won't be together yet.

I think for us the biggest thing we needed to know we'd have was rights to the all the files so that we could print on our own.

We didn't want prints - we wanted to make our own. So make sure you will be getting discs with authorization to print from them.

For us it was important to have all of the bells and whistles: proofs, enlargements, albums, thank yous, etc.

However, I'd say the two most important are to get the rights to your pictures (so you can have prints made at places other than your photographer) and the ability to access them online (so I could share with other people).

A second photographer and the rights to all images in high resolution on DVD so I could print my own immediately after the wedding.

I made parents albums myself and also enlargements. We had a photo album included by our photographer which was wonderful. I ordered TYs on Kodak.com and they came out beautiful. Online albums are silly. Just get the rights to your photos and you can upload 200 to facebook which everyone loves.

Having the rights to your images is key and having them in high resolution available to you (make sure you have it in writing that you can reprint because reputable photo stores will not automatically print professional wedding photos without first contacting your photographer since normally the rights remain with the photographer).
