Photography POLL

Photography POLL

Ok...I am lookingfor Photography and Video.
As of right now, I am torn between two potential photogs/videographers:

#1: Imagine. Photography was GORGEOUS. VERY impressed. Video not as nice as DUET's and total package more expensive (photo AND video)

#2: DUET: Beautiful photography, gorgeous video, great prices...however, FI and I prefer a more b&w look and more photojournalistic style. For that, we prefer Imagine's style of photog.

What would YOU do? save money or splurge and go over budget?

Sorry i am no help.

I am biased because I chose Imagine. It is the vendor I am most excited about. We went over budget on photo/video, but I think it will be worth every penny.

Personally, I'd splurge.

You'll have your picutures for the rest of your life, you want the best possible.

From what I've seen Duets work is beautiful alos, I don't think you could go wrong. But I'd go for what you really want when it comes to pictures.

Re: Photography POLL

Is it definitely between those 2, or would you consider lookign at others?

I liked imagine photogrpaher ( from the website) but I didn't call them b/c we aren't doing video & youhave tog et both from what I understand.

We went with Silverfox b/c of the photojournalism. They also have video, I don't know how their prices compare to imagine though.
Fm me if you want more info on price.

We actually used Imagine for video and we were impressed with our unedited version, we still have yet to do the montages and add the music. Nelson did an amazing job. And as for Imagine's photography, what can I say...Lia is incredible.

I am very into pictures- I scrapbook everything and I loved Duet's pictures. As far as spending more money, WHY? (JMO) The extra money can be spent on a longer HM or as a down payment on a house. Ask some older married people how often they look at their album. Can you use Imagine for photo and DUET for video?

I would splurge! But I splurge on everything. My photos are very important to me so we did not skimp in this section. It is also not about how often you will look at your album but future generations. I wish my grandparents had a wedding album or my parents a wedding video. Good Luck

you have plenty of time to do more research, if you are unsure, hold off until you do some more shopping around...

Re: Photography POLL

thanks for all the advice. The price difference between Duet and Imagine is at LEAST $2k!
And it's not like Duet is such a step down from Imagine. their work is beautiful....just a little bit of a more traditional style....I could prob. tell them I prefer more photojournalistic and they may be able to accomodate me.
I have 1 more photog. to see, then I will make my decision...so far we have seen 6!

i'd be careful making this assumption. it's been my experience that photojournalists can take the posed 'traditional' shots, but it doesn't necessarily work the other way around.

if you want the photojournalistic approach, REALLY analyze the individual photographers work. make sure you see an album of a single event of the photographer you would be using (don't get trapped into liking a particular studios body of work and then get assigned a 'low level' photographer because you want to save a bit). start thinking about why you like or don't like certain pictures. talk to the photographer and let him/her explain what technique was used to create that particular image and style...

if you want to save, an option may be to invest in the photographer and the images up front and forgo the “packages” and albums. you can always create albums after the fact, you can’t re-take the images…just something to think about…

Can you do photography with Imagine & Video with duet?

I would splurge on the photo - it's the one regret that will really last a lifetime.

Re: Photography POLL

I chose not to book Imagine because I wasn't happy with the fact that you have to book them for both photo and video. I wasn't that impressed with what Imagine showed me for their video, because I had already been to see Wild Rose and THEIR videos are phenomenal! But I was torn; I absolutely LOVE Lea's work - she's incredibly talented. I just didn't want to pay $2000 for a video that I thought would be just ok (but then again, how many times will I watch the video?)

In the end I chose Patken, and I told Steve exactly what type of pictures I want (mostly B&W photojournalistic). I also showed him examples. Patken is much more reasonable than Imagine, but still, their pictures don't compare to Lea's! I'm sure Steve will do a good job though.....
I booked Wild Rose for video.

One thing to remember; it may be possible for your videographer to make pictures out of frames from your video just in case your photographer doesn't get all the shots you want.
