So we had booked Marco Photography over a year ago. We really liked whta we saw and he gave us a good deal on a photography/videography package.
Now...lately Ive heard a few people say that they werent that happy with Marco. I wasnt able to get specific reasons yet but Im really starting to worry.
So should FH and I eat the $700 deposit that we left and get another photographer? Or call them and say that we have been hearing negative things and want to make sure that they know we have high expectations from them?
*I was also thinking maybe I could call him up with a sob story and maybe he'll give me the deposit back. That might just be wishful thinking though.

Re: Photography problems
If you visited them last year maybe pop in to see the recent work. I wouldnt tell them that I have heard bad things about them unless you want your money back. Not everyone is going to have the same opinion on vendors so unless there are many people saying things I think you are ok.. I hope everything works out for you whatever you chose to do

Re: Photography problems
I would be up front and honest with the guy. I would call him and ask him why people are having negative opinions and see what the problem is.

Re: Photography problems
Do you know of any actual specific issues people had b/c then I might address it with him? Otherwise I do not think I would be comfortable enough to say I just have heard some 'bad' things w/out specifics. I do not think there is anything wrong with addressing your concerns, but I do not think I would just cancel my contract with them. You never know. After you speak to them, you may feel really great again about the choice you made...good luck

Re: Photography problems
I just saw some of their recent work at Giorgio's bridal show. I have to say, it was really good. I was a bit turned off by how pushy they were and I did end up going with Thomas Paul, but the albums they had there were good.

Re: Photography problems
I was actually thinking of going with Marco in the beginning after seeing some of there work at a few showcases, however my sisters friends used them and she told me not too! She said over half of the pictures had someones head chopped in half or otherwise positioned weirdly. I dont know which photographers they used but definately ask to see work from the specific person you are getting. If they cant do that for you then I would eat the money and try to book with someone else.

Re: Photography problems
If you go to a different photog. and really want to book him/her, tell them that you have this dilema and that if he/she would deduct your deposit amount to this other photog, you would book...sounds crazy? my friend did this with her venue and they actually offered to do this before she finished her sentence...
It's a try.

I agree. I would go back for another appointment and check out their recent albums. I haven't heard anything negative about them just so you know. Good Luck and let us know how it turns out.

Did you guys take e-pics? Maybe you can try that and that will ease your mind a little.

Re: Photography problems
If you booked with him you must have been happy with both their work and their staff. Alot of people like to think that the vendor they choose was the best...and like to leave negative for other vendors. Do a search on the review board.

Re: Photography problems
As a BTDT bride, one thing I learned was that if you are questioning something about one of your vendors, go with your gut. You don't want to always wonder 'what if' and you still have time to change.
I also agree with some of the other girls - take epics, ask to see current work, etc.
My friend used them in January 2005, and were happy with him. I found his work to be much more on the traditional side, and they didn't get as many proofs as most other brides I know. But it really depends on what you are looking for!
