How much time to do you think is needed for pictures after the ceremony?????????// Having a very hard time with this.
eta - I would like to be at in the bridal suite for about half of the CH. The ceremony is supposed to start at 3:30 or 4. And the CH at 6. There is a 15-20 minute rie in between locations.

Re: Photography question
I would say at least 1 1/2 hours. The more time you give the better the picks will be and the more you will get.

Re: Photography question
What type of pictures do you plan to go to a garden, pics of you and hubby, family pics? If all of the above I would say mininum 1 1/2 hours.
Also incoporate driving distance if you are leaving your church/reception location for additional pics.

Re: Photography question
We are not seeing each other before the ceremony...and our CH is immedately after the ceremony...so we only have the 1 hour during CH. Our photographer says it will take about 45 mintues for the 'formal' posted shots.

Re: Photography question
I guess it depends on whether you want to be at your cocktail hour or are going to be taking pictures during that time. My FI and I are having our ceremony at 3:00 thinking that we will most likely be out of there by 4:30 and then our cocktail hour starts at 7:00. We want to mingle at the cocktail hour so it leaves us plenty of time to dance the night away at the reception.

Re: Photography question
It really depends on your photographer and the types of photo's you want. I would call your photographer and see what they say.
I had the same issue - 6:30p ceremony and 8p CH with a 15-20 minute ride in between. My photographer said we would miss *tops* a half hour of the CH.

Re: Photography question
Also try to maybe take some pics beforehand -I'm taking my portraits and my girls beforehand, my family and everything - he'll take his alone pics then as well. we'll only take together and group shots during the CH.

Re: Photography question
I think it depends on the photographer and the size of the bridal party/family. I asked my photographer how long it would take and then worked backwards for the time things would start.

Re: Photography question
definatley, ask your photographer, so he or she has enough time to get what you want. I want some fun and romantic shots not just - heres a pic of my family okay done. Are you going to a park? Need walking time, bathroom breaks, lipstick fixes.... know what you want - then ask your photographer.

totally agree...
i don't want many posed shots, i want to document the event with a photojournalistic approach. as of now i am only allotting 15-20 minutes for the formal posed family shots at the church, the rest will be candid. we also do not have a huge bridal party and ~100 guests...
