I really know nothing about either, so what should I be asking when I'm meeting with these vendors? I know a lot of them 'own' the rights to the pictures. Can I get them to agree to give me all of them so that I can get them printed elsewhere? also, what should i expect in these packages? Is it cheaper to have them print the books and stuff??? FH and I are completely clueless. YIKES! Thanks in advance for your help!

My package includes 2 photogs with 600-800 proofs, a DVD of the final images for my printing, an engagement session, 1 5x7 leather parent album (FH's parents did not contribute, so they don't get one!), 1 guest book made with our e-photos, a few prints, 100 thank you notes, and an 8x10 leather wedding album for us.
The rights to the images was my number one question. I am also having a not huge wedding, so I figure I don't need THAT many notes- though I may have to get some more!
That package was $3700, and we went back and forth a bit on what could be included, etc.

We went in and basically told him our budget was a little tight and we wanted to make our parent albulms ourselves on shutterfly as part as a gift to them (im an art teacher and i really love doing that stuff!!) - and that was $1,000 taken off right off the bat! he started his package at $4,900 and we just thought that was too much because we were also getting a videographer...we got him down to $2,780 and that included:
1 photographer full day coverage with an assistant (one of our good friends said she would do photos for us for free as well, so we really lucked out!) engagement photos 10x10 albulm with 80-90 photos 130 thank you photos all files on dvd 12x18 framed picture of us 2 8x10 photos 2 5x7 photos
