Hey all so I know thre are always questions on here about photographers, so I am sorry to repeat.

I am begining my photog search very soon and have absolutley NO IDEA what to expect when I go see them. I have read many times people talk of Duet, Thomas Paul, Patken, Imagine...

I was wondering if anyone wouldn't mind giving me some info on packages and prices, I hate to walk in blind. If your uncomfortable posting please FM me... Any help is greatly appreciated....

My advice with photographers is don't ever take what they offer in the package right away. They will always throw in extras if you negotiate. That really goes for all vendors.

I am in the same boat on the photgrapher....I have no clue basically! Can you guys also FM me some info regarding quotes? I saw one photgrapher this weekend and was totally blown away by HUGE quote!

08 Bride here, just wanted to toss in my 2 cents about photographers.

The photographer you choose will be with you most of the day, from the getting ready at home part (if you choose to do that) until the cake is cut. My photographer was by my side for about 12 hours straight! So, what I looked for more than anything was someone I could get along with. If you like a photographer, make sure to have your FH meet him/her, too.

Very often, the sample books that you are shown do not have photos from only one wedding...sometimes they're the photos the photographer liked the best from multiple weddings. So, don't be afraid to ask to see the proofs from a recent wedding, or an entire album from just one wedding. The proofs are actually very telling...I received 848 proofs from my wedding and there are SO many awesome photos that will never end up in a formal album due to sheer capacity issues. Similarly, an entire album from one wedding will show you which photos the bride & groom chose, and will often include formals as well as photo-journalistic and candid shots.

Finally, the original poster mentioned some of the more popular photographers on this site, but please realize that there are MANY other photographers out there who do awesome work at good prices. My photographer is not a vendor on LIW, but he's really awesome and I'm SO happy we chose him for our wedding. I met with a total of 6 photographers, 5 of them are popular on this site, and I just didn't like them. So, look for the best fit with you and your FH (and your budget, too).

In case you're interested, my photographer was Photography by Christos ...he's got awesome customer service, an amazing eye for beautiful shots, and middle-of-the-road prices. Contact him for his latest prices...I booked with him in 2007, so I don't now what his current price list is like.

-5x7's, 8x 10's ect
-thank you card pics
-our album
-two parents albums

for 3,995. We were thrilled because it includes video so that was a sweet price
