Photojournalism..any thought

Anybody have thoughts on photojournalism for your weddings photos? Does anyone have examples of it? We are debating on adding it onto our regular photographer? It is $995 for a book, 200 B&W proofs. So not sure....

I might be biased because I was a journalism major and now Im an art teacher... I love photojournalism because it is all about capturing the moment and those are the things that I would like to look at and be reminded of forever. I love when pictures tell a story. When I look at other people's albums I get very bored when looking at those typical posed shots of family... and my eye always goes to the photos that captured a feeling....

if it were me, i wouldnt even do traditonal shots... but FW wanted it... PJ just captures the natural stuff that you dont know about. i think you should if you can afford it. i think those are like the priceless moments to capture expressions when you didnt think there was a camera around

I love photojournalism and I loved my photojournalistic shots. I wouldn't have hired a photographer that didn't do it.

The proof count they are offering you sounds a little low, but the price sounds good so it might balance out. Are you getting a 2nd photographer for that price? I definitely ask for a higher proof count because the way photojournalism is by nature, you have to take alot more shots before you get the good ones.

Here is link to some of my Wedding Proofs there are a few PJ shots in there.

Good luck!

We are having a photojournalistic photographer in addition to the traditional one at our in November. To me, I like those pictures more because they are candid shots that really tell a story of how the day went and what people were doing. I like the traditional for keepsakes, but the candids for more fun in looking at your album!!

We had a photojournalist, and nearly all my favorite shots are the photojournalistic ones. I am so happy that we decided to have two photographers.

FI is like that. In almost EVERY picture we have he looks pissed or blinks. I'd rather have all PJ shots. Plus, although the 20 or so pages inthe scrapbook make it seem otherwise, FI hates to pose for pictures. We are getting a photojournalist but will have some posed shots with family and the traditional posed shots with the bridal party.

From what I've see, I really love the photojournalistic shots. I definitely definitely want to have that!

I personally just wanted traditional family pics. But the rest I want candids. They really capture emotions.

thanks for all the comments! I think it is important to have some posed shots but I love the candids too!!! i think maybe i will talk to my photographer and see what everything would come to...we are already getting a lot with our 1 photographer and assistant. I wish I investigated more prior to booking. $1000 more seems like a lot on top of the 3500 already so maybe i could ask if we could lessen our package to include it or something like that. We'll see....

I booked a photojournalistic phototograher on top of my traditional one. I wanted the standard posed shots, but also the candid ones. Well worth the money, IMO

Who are you using? Are they from the same place?
