Last time we met with out wedding planner she told us we should put aside $6,500 for flowers and $6,500 for photos. This seems like soooo much to me. Do those numbers sound right to you guys?
FI Just started looking at our budget and I'm really scared were not going to be able to save up enough money. We gave ourselves until 2012 for this very reason but I don't know if were gonna be able to save up the $40k we were hoping to.
I'm kind of having a mini panic attack over this. wedding planning is way harder then i expected it would be =(

imo that is a lot of money we only paid 2600 for flowers and about 3000 for photo/video ...........I wouldnt reccommend my florist or photo/video but there are plenty of other really good vendors in that price range....I also noticed you are getting married at the riviera and tims florist is not that expensive depending on the flowers you want

it really depends waht you want.
You could find a good but less popular photographer for around $1000 (give or take, depending on the package you ask for). The more popular photographers could cost $4-6k.
Flowers also depends on how man bridesmaids you have, and centerpieces (and also if you want high or low CPs). You could get flowers for about $2-3k, depending on your wedding size.

we paid 1600 for flowers and 5000 for photo/video combined, I think thats a little high, but it depends on how many tables you have and what kind of package you are looking for

Sounds like she just gave you those numbers based on your budget. Prob one of those guidelines, you spend a certain % of what you have on different things. You don't need to spend nearly that much! If she's still your planner maybe go back and talk to her about a smaller budget. There are tons of photographers with packages that have all your needs covered for less than that!

What company is she booking that photo alone is $6500????
Idk what kind of flowers or how many tables youre looking at so i cant comment on the flower quote

Hey girls thanks for all the advice.
were going for a very vintage vibe. you know like the weddings you see on style me pretty or once wed. Photos are really important to us so were willing to spend a little more on photos (6500 still seems crazy though) but the flower thing seems like way too much to me. Were actually not looking to do anything too too crazy. We have a meeting with her soon to show her the venue so I think i just need to have a more realistic talk about cost stuff.

I thought I wasn;t going to end up spending that much on flowers because my CPs and bo-ks arent overly floral and more branchy (I'm also doing a more vintagy look) and my budget is similar to yours so in the end my flowers are costing around 6k but my photo package (which is VERY inclusive and she is amazing) is 3500, which I think is perfectly reasonable for everything I'm getting (12 hrs with 2 photogs, 3 albums, rights to all my photos and an e-pic session)

I think that's a lot, esp the flowers. I am doing 17 high CP, and of course my bo-k, all my girls, the men and some othr stuff and it's coming in at around $4K
My photo and video combined are about $6500, but I also got a lot of bells and whistles with both.
You could probably get photo AND flowers for $6500 without sacrificing too much

I just went to my first floral appointment and got a great quote! I'm going to have about 25 tables, but a small wedding party and got a quote of $3900...

ummm way too much!!!! I had 19 low CP, flowers for cake, 6 BM boqs, my boq, throw away boq, flower girl basket, bots for men, corsages for moms and grandmothers, pew bows for 1550...and they were BEAUTIFUL flowers...look at my review.
