Photos on bridges and near Douglaston Manor

Hi ladies,

I spoke with my photographer last night and he said that the NY police doesn't like people taking photos on bridges. Is this true? I am certain I have seen tons of brides taking shots on the bridge, but because I don't live in NY maybe there is something I don't know. FH and I were hoping to take some Brooklyn bridge, Manhattan shots, some in front of a yellow cab, typical NY scenes. We are doing this as an engagement shot session so that on the day of we are not running around like crazy people.

Also, our wedding is at Douglaston Manor, but do any of you know any other places near there that we can get some shots. Someone mentioned Howard Beach, is that nice? Do you need a permit?

TIA!

I've never seen pictures with people on the bridge. I've only see pictures with people by the bridge and having it as their background.

I'm sure your photographer is right about the police being pissed having people taking pics on the bridge. Can you imagine the traffic?? I would be one very annoyed driver.

That being said, if you want to have bridge shots on your wedding day, you can try Fort Totten. It overlooks the Whitestone Bridge. I don't know if you need a permit or if you would even like the location, but doesn't Douglaston Manor have tons of places on site for you to take pictures?

I am getting married at Douglaston Manor and I think the golf course and the grounds has a ton of placvs to take good pictures. If you dont like those then I would suggest fort totten as well and you can take pictures on the water on the cross island right next to totten..

I agree, never seen pictures of people on the bridge but near the bridge. Douglaston manor is not far from the whitestone bridge, and the throgs neck bridge. There are really nice parks in the middle of both of them.

You can't take pictures ON NYC Bridges. There are actually signs on most bridges saying that. It's against he law because of terrorism.

You can take pictures in parks under bridges and I know that for the whitestone bridge park (near malba) you don't need a permit, that's where we are taking pics.

THanks ladies, I will definitely check the Fort. I am fine with Douglaston Manor, but my FH really has his heart set on those NYC shots.

Thanks much!

I THINK you need a permit to take pics by thethrogs neck at fort totten (it is a military fort)

That's why we're going to the Whitestone Bridge park.

we got married at Douglaston Manor and took pics at Francis Lewis Park- free, no permit needed, and the Whitestone Bridge is right there. it's a great area for pics!! it's only maybe 15 minutes from the hall.

here's some of our pics by the bridge:

this one was our TY Pic:

and I have a bunch more from the park in my album (Duet proofs)
