Anyone know anything about places like Western Australia? Phuket Thailand? and Argentina? I'm mostly concerned about their 'winter' weather in August and if its cold?
Anyone have any experience with these places?
TIA

Re: Phuket - Australia - Argentina in August???!!!
I have been to Phuket in August. It was generally very warm and we are able to go to the beach and pool but it is their rainy season so it also rained somewhat. But on the brightside, when it rained we just headed to a ridiculously amazing spa in town that charged like $50 total for an all day spa package! Phuket is goregous. Have so much fun if you go!
ETA: It definitely won't be winter weather in Phuket. Just rainy at times. HTH!

I went to Thailand last May and visited Bangkok, Chaing Mai and Phuket. Our summer is their rainy season. May was rainy season.
It was HOT. There wasn't that much rain at all. During rainy season the currents are VERY strong in the water/beaches. I nearly drown on a group tour and thank god a couple who are life guards from Australia saved my life. Alot of others on the tour also had to be rescued as the currents were pulling them out (we were snorkeling in the ocean)
It was dangerous and the staff for the tour were clueless.

i was in australia last july and it is COLD - its weird that during the day i would have a sweatshirt on, take it off, put it back on, and the SECOND the sun went down it dropped like 30 degrees. its a beautiful place but i would't go during our summer.

Re: Phuket - Australia - Argentina in August???!!!
I am going to Thailand for my honeymoon and my travel agent advised me to go to another island because of the rainy weather. We are going to Samui which is a little more remote and I just feel in love with. We didn't even think about rain, but he said that it will offer a similar experience, a little more exotic and amazing weather.
We are also going to Bangkok and Hong Kong.... We have traveled quite a bit so we really wanted to do something out of the ordinary!
Hope that helps.

I know some hard core skiers who go to Argentina for the summer to ski all summer long. So I would say it gets decently cold.

I've been to Argentina in August....it's VERY chilly! Don't do it That said, it's a BEAUTIFUL country and SO romantic. October- March is the best time to go.
I'm going to Australia during the second part of my honeymoon, we were advised to go in the second half because we'll have better weather in October.

Phuket during August is the rainy season, probably not the best time to go.
Australia can also be cold during August -- my sister was there in August a few years ago and was surprised how cold it was. Not exactly beach weather.
