Phyl...

I really feel stupid... I did not know you had to pump during the day??? I work for a small office. I actually don't get a lunch break. I work from 8-4 M-Thurs, and then 8-2 on Fridays. We usually just eat while we work. I don't know if I'm comfortable breastfeeding, but my DH insists that I do. Which is good! I just never wanted to. I am more than willing to try it, but when I go back to work, I will most definitely not be comfortable doing that at work!!! Where do you go? Can't everyone hear the pump? It'll take too long each time, won't it? I just don't know now... My DH really, really wants me too. I don't think I'll be comfortable at work? What do you think? Thanks!

Re: Phyl...

i think it is SOOO Great that your hubby is supportive of this...you will need that support !

I have an office here- so I would close my door and lock it. Those who needed to know, knew I was pumping and could not be disturbed. I have a radio in here as well and it helped to put on soothing music while pumping. You could not hear the pump from outside the door.

See if you can have access to an office with a locking door...or a conference rm with a locking door.
The other, less attractive alternatives is pumping in the ladies room (ugh germs!) ...or pumping in your car. ( they have adapters so you can plug in the electrical cord to your cig lighter)

BUT you have to be comfortable ...otherwise the milk will flow much slllooower.

Talk to your boss/supervisor..when the time comes about how they can accomodate you. (they have to - it is the LAW)

regarding the time it takes- depends on the person.
Sometimes it would take me 30 min for 4-6 oz...sometimes 45 min...my cousin in law coudl pump 6 oz in 15 min!
depends on the person

best of luck- HTH!
