Picked Up BM Dresses yesterday!

Picked Up BM Dresses yesterday!

Love them!!!! They all came in perfect condition (and very quickly I might add).

I am a little worried about one thing though. Either I lost more weight than I thought I did or the measured one of my MOH's wrong. My friend Roe is a thing girl (like in the 2-4 range) and when they measured her they told her she is almost a perfect size 8. She trusted them and ordered the 8. Well I tried it on yesterday and it's kinda big on me (which means it's bound to be even bigger on her). I know when these places take the measurements they base the size ordered on the biggest size measured (which for me is usually the hip area) and then you can take it in the other places. But this dress was completely swimming on top and a little loose in the hip area on me. I'm worried she is going to have to get this dress dramatically altered and spend a lot of extra $$. Then there's the risk the dress won't even look right after being taken in so much.

I'm obviously going to wait until she actually tries it on to make any decisions but if it winds up being way too big, what should I do? Should I take it back to the store and see if they could order a smaller size? I don't want her to have to pay for a whole new dress!

First off... YAYY!!!!!!! 2nd let her try it on first and see if its really big..

If it is I would ask them if they can reorder the dress in her correct size so that she doesnt have to pay a ton of $ for alterations..

The dress mayb only need to be taken in a bit so I guess see how it is when its on her

I'm glad you picked them all up Unfortunately you cant get too worked up yet b/c she hasn't tried it on yet.

But I feel the shop should order a smaller dress at no additional cost b/c they kinda messed up the ordering. Maybe talk to her about it when she tries it on if there are issues w/ it, see what she is comfortable doing. If she is okay w/ paying the alterations (and they dont mess up the dress) then try that.

But try not to stress too much before she even puts it on.

i'm not really too stressed about it. Now if the dress came in closer to the wedding date, THEN I would be freaking LOL.

But, I am going to bring to my friend, have her try it on. If it's big, I'm going to have her take it to her seamstress and get a quote on alterations. If it's an absurd amount of money, then I am going to see what the store can do about ordering a new one.

Perfect! If its gonna cost her a ton of money tell them to reorder since they measured her for it

hmm...i wear a size 2 and i purchased my wedding dress in a size 8. I have a BM who also wears a size 2 and she got her BM dress in a size 6. I would say let her try it on maybe her proportions are different than yours and hopefully it all works out!!!

yay on getting the dresses tho!!

ITA with this.

Most stores can take in a gown that is up to 4 sizes too big without disrupting the visual integrity of the gown.

Conversely, I had a BM gown ordered for me in a size that was too small and had to have a panel added into it. it was a disaster. i spent $60 in alterations and the top of the gown never fit me correctly.

I would say just wait until she tries it on - everyone fills out gowns differently and taking in is MUCH easier than adding pieces to a gown.
