ok heres the deal ... first i wasnt going to register for china because i really didnt like any and i knew it was expensive. Everyone was telling me that i should register for a set since i wont be buying it for myself any time soon ... ANYWAY i finally found one that i like (vera wang scroll) anddd NOW my mom is teling me its tooo expensive. she doesnt think anyone will buy it for me! sooo i told her who cares. it will be up there, if someone wants to buy it for me they can and if not thats fine too. (the 5 piece place setting is $150 and doesnt include a pasta/soup bowl ... that is an extra $95) do i keep it on and see what happens? should i look for a cheaper one? ahhhhhh

Re: picking expensive china ...
i don't see any harm in leaving it... you can always add another china set that is more 'everyday' that is more cost friendly

just leave it up there, if they buy thats fine and if not thats fine too. Plus alot of ppl wont buy the whole thing for you, some will purchase 1 place setting and then a few ppl can do this. Or maybe this can be something your bp all chips in for or something similar.

Yes keep it on. Unless you wantto register for somethig less expensive so thatyou can get it. But honestly, all of today's china is basically within thatrange & pasta bowls are ALWAYS seperate.

I don't think that's expensive at all. It's actually pretty average. I say leave it up there. No one is making them buy it. They can buy something else off the registry if they want, or just give you my favorite...MONEY!!

Re: picking expensive china ...
The only thing is that if someone buys you one piece of the set, do you have the money or inclination to buy the rest? That's the only thing I would consider. You probably don't want a partial set of really nice china over a complete set of less expensive china because that's basically useless.

You can leave it but honestly, I would say that nobody will buy it. The china I registered for is $105 a place setting. I had my shower already and I did not get one place setting.

Re: picking expensive china ...
My mom bought all my sister's place settings for her shower.
This store generally offers free soup bowls. See link for your set.
I know you cannot register there but if someone from your family/bridal party wants to buy it they can just buy it from there.

Re: picking expensive china ...
When my parents got married, my dad's mother always got something from their fancy china set for any occasion (anniversaries, Christmas, etc). It's something you can build over time. Plus a lot of places give you a discount to complete your registry after your wedding date so you can buy some of the items yourself after your wedding.
If you register at Bed Bath and Beyond, you can also use those 20% off coupons that you get every week in the mail which NEVER expire (even if there is an expiration date on it).

i say register for what you want and people will buy what they can afford. some people like to give china, my ILs included. you will get some of it and prob have to continue building it as time goes on.

I say put it on!! You will be SURPRISED at how quickly your registry stuff goes! I wound up putting stuff on my registry that I never imagined would be bought and they were bought FIRST!!
You have nothing to lose and CHINA to gain!

Re: picking expensive china ...
I would leave it...there's no harm. I just registered for my china on Saturday, and was balking at the price (even lower still than yours), but figure if a few people here and there chip in it will be a good start.

I think you should leave it, you would be surprised how generous some people are. Plus if you really like you will prob. get a completer discount after the wedding and will be able to buy some pieces if you get giftcards and stuff!
