picking my battles
In an effort to get along with FMIL, I have learned to pick my battles.....
1) She offered to buy chinese slippers for the reception for guests to wear if their feet hurt. They come in all different hideous colors. I really hate them and think they're so ugly, but I agreed to let her do it. I'll put them in the bathroom.
2) She put together a wedding day timeline for our bridal party to follow. She is including it with the rehearsal invitation. Love the idea, but it has some grammatical and punctuation errors. Even though the errors annoyed me because I'm an English freak, I chose to let it go. It is only our bridal party and close family who will see it, and they know it's coming from her, not me, anyhow.
These things may seem super silly, but I am proud of myself for letting them both go. I have never micro-managed something as hard as I have this wedding LOL. I came to the decision to let these things go because she's being nice and it's coming from a good place, it won't really have any effect on the outcome of my wedding, and it makes her feel involved. If you've read my past posts, you'll understand that mine and FMIL's relationship has been a bit rocky. We are finally coming to terms, and I am willing to be a little flexible to keep it that way....especially with 17 days to go!!!!
