We will be picking out a female Golden Ret. pup from a litter of six females this weekend. Any suggestions on how to choose THE ONE? Is there anything wrong with what the breeder says was the runt when the pups were born? Is she just smaller now and will eventually catch up in size?

Re: Picking out a puppy?
I think that it's easy to find 'the one' - my FH and I recently bought a pup and we instantly connected with one over the others. Just go with the one you are drawn to...and the one that is drawn to you. For instance, the breeder was really trying to sell us a particular dog, but the dog was very docile and was not interested in us at all. Our Joey was so happy to see us and went out of his way to get our attention - we picked him :)

Re: Picking out a puppy?
I will give you the only advice we were given when we were looking for our Golden Retriever. When you are drawn to one (or even more) take one of them roll them onto their back. If the puppy starts to fight you, it will be a dominant dog, they the puppy does not fight you back, it will be a docile dog. Hope this helps! I have a 8 month old golden - so let me know if you have any questions
