We are wondering if it's possible to do a fairly casual, outdoor (tented in event of rain) wedding anywhere on LI. Think upscale picnic or bbq for 200+ (big families!) people. We'd prefer a spot where there is an inside backup plan.
Budget TBD.
Does anyone know if this is possible, has anyone seen it done well, etc etc etc?

Check out the Sunken Meadow Pavilion. Its run by Lessings and its right on the beach. You can pick a bbq or clam bake menu in place of the wedding menu there. It can be very casual, and they can also set up a tent for CH in case it rains!
I did a casual style tent wedding with a clambake at The Inn Spot on the Bay ...there is no inside area for 200+...but the tent had sides in the event of rain and there is a large covered back deck to have the ceremony incase of rain...you can check out my review and see if it's what you are looking for....HTH!
