Pics before Ceremony or after?

Re: Pics before Ceremony or after?
I have the exact same situation... 5:00 mass then 7:00 reception. Our church is about 15 minutes from Westbury Manor. We are going to take pictures after the mass at Westbury Manor and both just agree that we will miss cocktail hour. We don't want to see each other before but if you want to do that, there is nothing wrong with it.

Re: Pics before Ceremony or after?
I was kind of against seeing each other before the wedding but decided to do it. We are also getting married in Nov and I wanted to take pictures outside and I didnt want to miss the CH. I'm also using Duet and they did tell me it was up to me that they could do it after if I wanted to. All the photographers I saw suggested seeing each other before, but it's totally up to you.

Re: Pics before Ceremony or after?
My cerm is 11amwe are taking pics 9-10:30am
I dont think it takes away from
walking down the aisle.
We will capture 'that first moment' early
& then be able to relax & totally enjoy the cerm.
I look at it as having 2 'first' moments

Re: Pics before Ceremony or after?
Lady Princess: Good pointI am looking outside right now and it's 5:04 and it is almost completely dark. I don't know if pics after ceremony is such a good idea. I wish I could have just not been so compulsive, waited and made my date for a Saturday. My life would be so much easier. ARGH
I guess I have to take pics before, I won't get any pics of the beautiful leaves and trees around this time.

It is fine to see each other before. You're right, it is dark and you want gorgeous pics. It makes no difference really.

Re: Pics before Ceremony or after?
At your time of year I would go with before. You want to have some pics in the daylight. We ahve Duet too and they assured us that we'd make the CH. We'll see!

Re: Pics before Ceremony or after?
Im a stickler for doing it after the ceremony, but in your case if you really want outside pics you might have to go before. Whatever you choose Im sure your FH will be overwhelmed when he sees you

Re: Pics before Ceremony or after?
My FI and I are going to see each other before. Just like everyone else, we are using Duet, and they have assured us we will make it to the CH. I am old fashioned and like the idea of seeing each other for the first time at the ceremony, but it makes more sense to do it this way for us. We want to really enjoy the reception, so we are getting the schmoozing done early. Hope this helps!

Re: Pics before Ceremony or after?
i just spoke to FI and he said he doesn't care either way. It's my decision. He did say that the pics are going to be great inside and out. Sometimes I wish he'd make an executive decision in this process so that I don't have to be so confused. I am going to think about it some more and see. All of my friends are totally against seeing him beforehand, big traditionalists. We'll see. Thanks for the input and opinions, keep them coming.

Re: Pics before Ceremony or after?
My ceremony starts 7:30 and I will definately take pictures before hand.I think you should definately take pics before the ceremony. In the end, the pictures is all that is left. The wedding goes by in a second, and the pictures is what you will go back to and look at, and have. To me, that is the most important.
Plus, a lot of photographers make the meeting very special. Even more special than when you have a whole wedding full of people staring at you. It can be just the two of you, and as you walk into the room, they can still get the shot of him first seeing you. Which I am sure will be a great shot!

Just about to say the same thing
.....this is what convinced me to do the pics beforehand. I had the same reservations that it seems like you are having, but when it was presented to me this way, I really like that idea of still capturing that first sight moment and loved that it would just be us vs. all eyes on us. Hope that helps

Re: Pics before Ceremony or after?
if its important to you guys to not see each other beforehand - which it seems that its up in the air at this point - then wait. If its no biggie - do it before. takes some stress and time restraints off the day.I'm having the same dilemma but FH is set on not seeing each other before so I guess we are gonna miss some of our par-tay

Re: Pics before Ceremony or after?
I think I made up my mind. I was thinking I am going to have pics at outside with my family, wedding party, and he will have them outside with his family and GM. SO there will be pics of the leaves, the only pics I won't have will be of us during the day. FH convinced me pics of us are going to be great, outside or inside. Plus I am also doing my engagement shoot in two weeks at a park. So I will be able to capture the essence of fall then. (since I love the season so much)I think since there will be pics of my girls and my fam with the beautiful colors, at least i have some. It's more important I think to be traditional about the whole thing. I don't know. That's the consensus for now, i might change my mind in a month
Thanks for the input girls

Re: Pics before Ceremony or after?
I have the same dilemma. Getting married Friday 5:00 Nov '05. I plan to take pictures outside of me and the girls before hand, and also have the guys alone. But we'll have to do ours together inside. keep in mind you will have some outdoor shots at night too.Welcome New Vendors
