We are taking ours afterwards, but I have a friend that did them beforehand. She said this was the best decision she ever made. she was reeally ahppy wth it and said that it was nice that her and her husband had some alone time before the rush of people.

Re: Pics Before or After?
We are doing them before since we are getting married at the hall. I was just a wedding this weekend and the couple took the couple took pics before. They said it was a great decision because it really calmed thier nerves and took the pressure off before the ceremony.

if you are taking pictures BEFORE what are you going to do about the wedding ring? will you put it on for pictures or leave it off and hide the hand? hmm, any ideas?

When I think about all the thousands of dollars that we're spending . . . there is no way in heck I am gonna miss any parts of anything.

Re: Pics Before or After?
We are doing ours before hand also..everything is at one place like a lot of people have said and we really wanted to be able to enjoy that time taking pics with our families before and not rush and then go to at least 1/2 the cocktail hour...it is always my favorite part!!!
As for the superstition the reason they say it is bad luck is because back in the day brides and groom had NEVER seen each other before at all.. so it was a fear the groom would leave before the wedding if he saw the bride and did not like her etc...kind of funny but i know fh has seen me at my absolute worst and has not run yet so i think we are ok =)
With the rings i am just keeping mine as is and not worrying about it..you could take ring shots after the ceremony i guess...
It is a definte personal decision based on feelings, time you have to work with etc..I think anyway you do it when you first see one another and when you are finally coming down the aisle are going to be very very special!! Best of Luck with your decision and just do whatever you and fh feel comfortable with..don't worry about anyone else!!!

Re: Pics Before or After?
We are doing pictures before for several reasons:
1. We are getting married at our hall and we don't want to miss cocktail hour, which follows our ceremony
2. I think I will be less nervous if I see my FI before the ceremony
Both my photographer and videographer will set up something so that there is still the 'moment' when my FI sees me for the first time. They both feel that it is important to have that 'moment' and want to make it special for us. Personally, I think it makes it intimate for FI to see me for the first time without 100 guests watching.

I am also taking my pictures beforehand. At first I was against doing this because I always invisioned my FH seeing me for the first time walking down the aisle. After talking to many photographers about this I have changed my mind. Since we are getting married at the hall and will have no time in between we are doing it all beforehand. I too am having a 'special' moment set up for our photographer and videographer to capture on film. Also I am excited that the first time we see one another will be a private moment instead of in front of our 100 guests. I know that I will be less nervous seeing him before I walk down the aisle.

We are taking pictures right after the ceremony. That is one tradition that I can't part with. I want FH to see me for the first time when I walk down the aisle!

Re: Pics Before or After?
After, it is important to both FH and I to see each other for the first time at the church. I have friends that have done pics before and been very happy with them as well. I just thought it was too much pressure with the 'set up' photographer moment, not the same to me as meeting each others eyes for the first time as I am walking down the aisle to marry him. Its a personal decision, but in the end I have never known anyone to regret doing it either way.

Re: Pics Before or After?
Since we're getting married at the hall & don't want to miss our CH, we're taking pictures beforehand. As it was explained by our photographer's...we'll have 2 special moments - the first time we see one another we'll have alone time captured only by the photog's...and the second time will be when I walk down the aisle - the impact of that will be just as emotional, I'm sure.

Re: Pics Before or After?
I am getting marreid at the hall and doing pictures before hand. I was upset about this util my friend pointed out that wouldn't you wnat the first tie your FH sees you to be a more intimate moment, then in front of 150 people. WHen I thought about it this way, I was very glad we are seeing each other before.
I also didn't want to miss my cocktail hour or ahve my BP miss the cosktail hour, because at VIlla's the cocktail hour is amazing.

Re: Pics Before or After?
If you have a break between the ceremony and the reception (not have everything at a hall) then you can follow tradition and not see each other before and still make it to the cocktails.
Since we had the ceremony and reception all in one place, at first we didn't plan on seeing each other before and we extended our cocktail hour by 15min. and we thought we could do as many pictures before separately and finish it during cocktails. But I was in a wedding a couple months before mine and we noticed that it took so long (at least an hour) to do pictures with everyone so we decided to do picture before so we wouldn't miss our cocktail hour. Remember that it takes extra time to round up people for pictures (especially for an extended family picture).
