PICS from a wedding in Israel!

PICS from a wedding in Israel!

Haven't been on in awhile because FH & I went to Israel for a week to attend his BM's wedding...which was GREAT! They do things a bit differently over there...first of all the wedding was a Tues night. Much more casual affair than we have here in NY. Some people even came in jeans & t-shirts..inlcuding the photographer & videographer! There were 350 guests, but the venue was so big it had a NYC nightclub feel. Food, food & more food at all these different stations. Besides the regular bar, there was a Coffee bar. The bride carried no flowers and walked down the aisle with the groom to the 'MIssion Impossible' theme song which we thought was great! Simple, elegant chuppah (sp?) ceremony in Hebrew so i had no clue what was going on...but love is an international language, right? No bridesmaids or groomsmen. FH lived in Israel for a few years for work & attended many weddings there..and although neither of us is Jewish he always said 'I want an Israeli wedding'...now I know what he was talking about & why! Here are the differences...the bride & groom are there together when you first arrive to greet & hang out with the guests. Food & drink is immediately available. Everyone mingles for about an hour to an hour & a half, eating, drinking & hanging out with the bride, groom & families. Then the DJ made an announcement to go by the chuppah for the ceremony...we did. About 15 minutes they are done..and then it's one BIG party! Israel makes you have a religious weddng, since many of their laws are based on the religion. You cannot have a 'civil' ceremony like we do in the USA if you want just a judge to do it.Most grooms dress in just a shirt & pants...this bride made him wear a tie..haha. The bride's dress is much more casual than what we wear. The bride puts the veil over her face for the ceremony. Their wedding bands must be solid...meaning no diamonds, cuts, wholes or anything 'damaging' to the cirlce...some have patterns but most are simple but still elegant. No cutting of a cake, first dance, bride & father, groom & mother dances, garter or bouquet toss....nothing is 'scheduled' like we do here, which I LOVED. I guess because I was never one for tradition anyway. Besides the wedding I met alot of FH's friends who live there and toured all over the country...will put pics in my album. Beautiful country and such wonderful people in the middle of a war zone...but you would never even know it walking around! Sorry this is so long!

Biggest difference was it cost less for their 350 guests than we'll be paying for 150!!!!!!

WOW looks like an amazing wedding!!!
Hearing about a wedding that does things differently is so strange but it seems like it is definitely worth it not be scheduled in your party

Wow. that looked so awesome. I love the feeling the pictures had. It must have been an amazing wedding, though I would have thought Isreali weddings were much more formal.
