I know there is a park right on the water in Great Neck Estates. Its not very big, but its pretty. Maybe you could try there?
There's a park on Northern Boulevard and Community Drive that's very nice. It even has a little bridge thing. Not sure of the name , but you should check it out!

I had the same problem!!!! I didn't want to have the ceremony at Leonard's courtyard and take pics there, so I just settled it by having the ceremony at Nassau Museum of Art. We visited Planting Fields, but weren't impressed w/ them. There was also Old Westbury Gardens but it was too expensive for us. Some brides suggested I believe Garden City gazebo but I heard, especially in the summer there may be two or three brides waiting to take pics there. I'm not sure if it's the same during Oct., for your wedding. Oh there's also a place, on the opposite side of Great Neck...can't recall right now, I have to find the name...they allow ceremonies there for $1500 and you can take pics there also.
