I swear this could have been my parents house down there when they lived there, those models virtually all look the same!

Re: PICS PICS PICS
Very nice. There's just one thing I really dislike about many Florida homes - they often put the dining room right by the front door That may not bother some people, but it urks me. JMO.

Claud - I noticed that in lots of places in the south. In some cases they wasn't even an easy path from the kitchen.

Re: PICS PICS PICS
thanks girls.
the top photo's are from one house that we really love. that house is 150,000 with pool. it doesnt need many upgrades. the only upgrade we are going to do is the counters. we want to get corian countertops.
we are going in december to sign the papers for construction

Re: PICS PICS PICS
claud ya know I never thought about it till you just mentioned it. I just looked back at some of the floor plans we got from different houses and almost all of them have the dinning room right by the front door.

Re: PICS PICS PICS
Melissa - isn't it SILLY? My in-laws live in south FLA, and their dining room is RIGHT THERE by the front door...it's a little wierd to me. And, last Thanksgiving, they had DH's whole family there for dinner, so they had to set up an extra table to fit everyone comfortably. The second table was in the entrance foyer! Can you imagine? Truthfully, no one cared...but, if you were expecting other visitors, it would be awkward for them to enter around a table.

Re: PICS PICS PICS
Claud it is definatly silly. Why do design them like that is weird. What I did learn is the way the front door and the back doors are lined up is if their is a hurricane your house will be a windtunnel and filter the air from the front door to the back door and not blow your roof off. Its hard to explain but it makes sense on the layout.

Re: PICS PICS PICS
I saw some of that when we looked at houses in Arizona too. All I could figure is that since the houses were on narrow lots they had a deep, narrow layout instead of stretched wide on the property.
The kitchen / family room / living room overlooked the back yards with access to pools, patios, BBQ grills, etc, and the master bedrooms were back there too, so that left the front of the house for the dining area and other bedrooms.
