Picture Added: So I got my haircut, it's much shorter and highlights. But I have a question

do the highlights over time darken up? I love the cut, but I am still getting used to the highlights.

My natural color is brown, I wondering if the highlights will blend more in time.

I think I am just trying to get used them.

I have highlights, but I'm not sure what you mean. Mine have never gotten darker as time passed. But maybe you have to get use to them.

I think I like it.

I am just not so used to my hair being so light.

Phil says he likes it, but he also prefers me with glasses and my hair pulled back.

I just wondering if the color fades, it gets darker over time.

I should take a pic and post.

mine have never darkened, but it's true that you have to get used to them.

If you find that you just CAN'T get used to them, you can always go back to your salon and ask them to add some lowlights - it makes the blending a little more subtle. I get highlights and lowlights in the winter, but for the summer I just stick to highlights.

They don't darken but depending on the tone, they may oxidize or get brassy. This happens with red hair dye as well. I was a highlighted blonde for many years. Now I am a redhead with very subtle blonde highlights as I grow out a very butchy short haircut. The high lights look great but the red pat has faded some. That is the nature of the beast with red hair dye.

You could also ask them to out a toner over them. But now that the nicer weather is here, the lighter color will look more natural. And the rest of your hiar might lighten up a bit (if that makes sense).

I don't know what I got. I just said highlights. he did my whole head. Maybe I should have started with lowlights.

It's does make sense, hmmm.. hopefully I will see Beth (novli04bride) and she can give me an honest opinion.

You're right summer is coming and it will look good for summer.

1 yes it is true usually highlights LIGHTEN rather than darken

and
2 yes you can ask for a rinse to be put on top of it but it will darken

My siggestion is to see how yo like it in a week and then deicide

Yes, post pics! You definately do need to give yourself some time to adjust to it though. If you still don't like it by next week though, chances are you're never going to like it.

Sounds so nice! Over time they won't get darker, but you will get used to it!!!

Are you sure it's not to light.

It was long, I think mid-back.

I grew it for our the wedding. I wanted it a little longer, but that's okay, it will grow, I think it was good for my hair to get so much cut off.
