Picture help needed

Picture help needed

I posted on the other board but it seems more lively on here.

So i am working on my engagement album in Snapfish. I'm trying to put together all the pictures but it says that low resolution is not recommended.

Any clues how I can change the resolution on the pictures at this point? I'd hate to order the album and have it look funny.

Re: Picture help needed

300 dpi for all printed photographs

if your resolutions is lower then that then it will look like crap

You can change the resolution but your image will be smaller.. normally you have to shoot at fine or super quality or if you scanned it in you need to scan at 300

Yeah, once the picture is actually taken, its pretty hard to change the resolution. I used to work in publishing and 300 is the industry standard to look good...at first I used to think that just manually changing the resolution number in Photoshop was enough, but for a photo that's already taken, that's not enough.

Re: Picture help needed

alot of photographers seem to give out the low resolution cd's...one reason is bc its harder for you to go elsewhere and do things with it...maybe talk to him and ask if he can give you a high resolution cd...AG told me she is giving us a high resolution cd with our pics, see if you can get that from your photographer

I'm not really sure what all this means...is that the dimensions or pixels or something like that???The pictures were pretty small when I scanned them in and I cropped them from the page. There basically the ones in my album.

I don't have a disk with the e-pics right now. I know they are giving me the wedding pix but i'm ot really not sure about these.

Should I skip snapfish then?

I could probably order them in 4x6 first just to see what they look like. Would that be a better option?

they e-mailed the pictures to you? well did they say they are going to give you a disk with all the pictures on them, because youll see that most ppl have the pictures sent to them and this is usually done by disk, i think some might get the actual pictures...did your photographer bring up any of this? if not then ask if you can please get a high resolution cd with all the pictures on them.

Basically what was being said above is that it will be hard to change the resolution of the pic, you can but not sure how much better it will come out

Re: Picture help needed

when you scan scan at 100 % at 300 dpi and you should be fine even when you are cropping. If you are trying to enlarge the picture from its original size then you have to scan at a higher dpi.

Ex. 5 x 7 at 300 dpi scanned will give you that if you wan to enlarge to a 8 x 10 scan at 600-800 dpi. The higher number you scan the larger you photograph will be.

No they didn't email them, they gave me on photopaper and I scanned the picture in.

Maybe i'll pick this up in the morning i'm still a little confused and tired which doesn't help any.

Thats probably the problem. The image is probably is the equivalent of a wallet sized picture, possibly smaller. There are 6 images on the page so its on the small side.

I'm not really sure how to change the settings on the scanner. Maybe my mother can help me with this.

Re: Picture help needed

I think if you scan a picture in, you can set the resolution setting. I don't have a scanner on this computer so I cant check the exact working, but its dpi which I think, technically, stands for dots per inch. But yeah, maybe in the morning would be a better time to do this--I don't know if I'm making any sense myself! Good luck.

Btw--the setting can prob be changed in an options or preference or setting menu.

i didnt read prior posts so someone may hav mentioned already.....

Try and get a high resolution disk from your photographer. They should be able to give one to you. Also, if you are using them for your wedding too- make sure they give you one.

I'm a little nervous to ask them with everything I put them through already. I know I shouldn't feel this way since i'm paying but I don't want to seem like a complete b-tch.

no its something you should get, i mean you take pictures so you can actually have them right, i mean what would be the point of hiring a photographer if you dont get the pictures ya know what i mean. If you were asking for crazy uncalled for things then that would be different but this is something you should get without even asking for it

what could you have possible put then through- don't even worry about it. They should definitely give you a hr disk since they are still doing your wedding and your not done giving them your $ yet- haha just ask. especially snce you didn't get proofs, just a disk, right? if so- how else are you supposed to do anything w/ your pics.

yeah then what would've been the point of the e-pics? for them to have the pics of the two of you and for you to not be able to do anything with the pics

I think the copy we got was the proofs though not in a 4x6 format which i was kinda expecting but they gave it to us in a bound copy book which looks nice so I prob shouldn't be wasting the money on snapfish.
.
I'm pretty sure they mentioned we would get a disk at the end though.

We have to decide which picture we want a print of, maybe i'll send an email asking if we can get a HR disk also.

I was talking to mom about it, since we gave them a sizeable deposit so we wouldn't want to cancel. That's too much money to lose.

no shes not saying to cancel, but you paid a fee for a service and you should get that service...if you are happy with the book you received then that is good, if you want bigger pics instead of wallet size, which i think is what you said earlier then email or call and just talk nicely about it

I'm just to tired right now and I don't completely know what i'm talking about either way. My mother printed up one of the pictures the other day using basically the same method I did. It came out fine. My thought is that the other pictures would be fine as well.

No clue.
