Picture Woes...

I need your advice!

So it's come to my realization that getting ready at the venue is pretty much out of the question.

This leaves me with getting ready at the hotel. Fine. Something I didn't really want to do, but whatever, I can get over it. It's not that serious.

Here is my dilemma...

The venue allows us to arrive one hour before the ceremony to take pictures. The ceremony is at 7. Do you think one hour of pictures is enough time or should I beg them to let me arrive 1.5 hours earlier than the ceremony?

We aren't doing 'getting ready' pictures because I think it's stupid to waste the photographers time like that, especially when everyone and their mamas will have a camera phone and if I really want a picture taken I can ask one of them to do it. Also, we're getting ready in two totally separate locations that are kind of far away from each other, so unless my photographer and his assistant have some crazy time/space continuum defying machine, the getting ready pictures are out anyway.

Also, since we are coming from two different places, should I tell the limo company to have us arrive at the venue at two different times? How does that work? I hate this planning crap. lol

If you are not doing getting ready pics, then I would definitely suggest asking for more time. Are you doing a first look to get some of the photos out of the way? Definitely ask for more time.
We had two photographers so we could get both of us getting ready and it was actually very nice.
Also, no reason to have your limos arrive at different times if you are doing photos. They will arrive at slightly different times anyway due to traffic.
Hope that helps!

Yes we are definitely doing a first look. I think 1.5 hours will be enough time but only 1 hour seems like it might be cutting it close. I think that even though its only a 30 minute difference it could make or break the picture schedule. Maybe I'm crazy, I dunno. Well, I e-mailed the venue so we'll see. Thanks for your input. It helped!

I think you need more than an hour. We are allowed 2 hours before. If the venue won't budge you could always go to another location to take pictures. You are getting married at a beautiful time of year so you could get beautiful pictures.
As for arrival times, are you doing a planned 'first look'? FH and I are getting ready at the same hotel but staggering times we are getting to the venue BC we have a first look planned for when we get there.

We ran into a timing issue too with this, as ww thought we could get to the hall crazy early (this was my bad, FH assumed without asking first). We are going the reveal at the hotel so we can take one big limo to an offsite location for photos before going to the venue. You could ask the photographer for suggestions with this, that's what we did. Maybe there is a spot nearby where you can get some photos in.

that's smart actually. first look not at the venue so you can take one big limo to the venue. thats genius actually. the only problem is getting fh's mom and dad in the same car without a homicide happening..

We are doing the first look before so we have more time for pics before the ceremony.
