I am going to be getting married at the RH. I am a little concerned because I am absolutely 100% opposed to having FH see me before I walk down the aisle. That is the part of my wedding that I have dreamed of since I was a little girl--so it is absolutely out of the question. Anyone feel the same way and have any solutions to offer? I'm spending a lot of money on this wedding to miss the cocktail hour..

This is very frustrating..

You can save some time by cutting the the bridal party entrance for the ceremony.

A lot of girls have also gotten dressed up again (after the wedding is over) to take pictures.

You could do a 'reveal shot' with just FH, you, and the photographer...it will still be a special moment.

I totally agree with you ....that really sucks that u have to miss the cocktail hour though ...bc I have a bit a problem I'm getting married in a church then going to the RH but we only have an hour to get there and take pictures and we made it clear that we r paying a lot for this wedding too.... every photo place we saw so far they told us that they will have us not miss it only about 5 min. But I would really talk to your photo place and explain that you don't want to miss it .....good luck

If you marry at the RH unfortunately its a bit difficult to get in all your photos and attend your CH w/out seeing FH before the ceremony. The CH usually starts right after the ceremony.
I'd suggest thinking about doing the reveal before the ceremony. It may be more special, more personal just the two of you.
Or try and get all the bridal party/family shots before the ceremony and then you can focus on shots of you and FH after the ceremony. Maybe then you will only miss part of CH.

Re: Pictures

if you refuse to see your FH until the ceremony itself, i can only see a few options:

-- deal with it and take pics before the ceremony anyhow
-- ask the RH to extend your CH (might cost extra) so you have time to take photos AND to enjoy the CH (but your guests may not love this)
-- buy a second dress ... take photos with the 2nd dress before the ceremony ... that way, your FH will not see you in the 'real' dress until you walk down the aisle
-- take some pictures on the day-of, and some on a different day

good luck

I 100% agree with you!!!

My favorite part of any wedding is seeing the grooms face when the bride starts walking in. so I want that for me 100% also. When we went to meet the photographer they were trying to convince us to have the photos before so we don't miss the cocktail hour. But I don't care, honestly I don't think I have ever seen a bride and groom at the cocktail hour

Yeah..I totally agree..it seemed more important than it was. I talked to FH and he was like 'they made the cocktail hour so you could take pictures and entertain your guests' I was like oh..yeah.. I guess I forgot the basics. I just want to be such a part of the day--but if we make the tail end whatever.. maybe it will be nice to be away from the hustle and bustle for an hour =)

Re: Pictures

you should take all your pics with YOUR family and BMs before...and FH should do the same

then when you are married, you wont need to take those separate shots. it should be okay. but maybe a little rushed

this is what we plan to do. we are getting married at our RH and do not want to miss anything so we will do a big reveal with just us, the photographer and videographer and then we will spend 2 hours taking pics prior to the wedding so we dont have to miss anything

imo, its nice to have the special alone time to reveal bc not only do you see his reaction up close and personal, but you can share an intimate moment and even shed a tear or two without the big crowd...get it all out before the walk down the aisle

I was in the same predicament.. but we decided to just get made up and dressed up all over again after the honeymoon and take nice 'wedding' pictures at another location. Yeah, its not the same day, but I wanna eat lol. We are still going to take pics the day of the wedding, but not just a bunch.

It just makes me feel less pressured to get all the shots in AND make the cocktail hour.

Re: Pictures

I was completely 100% against having my groom see me before the wedding, but my photographer said I need more time than the CH to take them... so, we ultimately decided that I will have a private moment with my FH before the pictures and have pictures taken before everything begins. That way, we have more than enough time for all the pictures we want/need.

The only thing I added was a change of dress... I'm going to take pictures during my CH of the ceremony dress... but I'll have both a reception dress and ceremony dress.. and we'll be taking pictures with both.

Re: Pictures

take pics before with your bparty , family and then jsut squeeze some in after the ceremony with fh and any shots you want with people together. I dont want to see him before either for the same reasons. We are going to cocktail also, im not into the posey make stupid faces at me, jump in the air shots so that will save some time. I want more candids and family shots so hopefully we wont be long

Re: Pictures

we are getting married at the RH and are doing a reveal so we dont miss any CH time.

Our Photographer is coming about three hours before the ceremony to capture my getting ready time, the reveal moment, the family pics shot before the ceremony, and any other pics we can get out of the way.

Also our CH is 90 minutes so that we can take a few more shots after we are married, and still get to spend CH time w our guests.

HTH!
