Is anyone giving their photographers a 'must take' picture list?

how do you do that? print them out & say take these? Email them before? Verbally tell them what you want?

I was wondering how this worked...

I definitely will e-mail my photographer a list of must-take pics, but I think they usually discuss this with you before the wedding and take some of their own notes, but I will be prepared with my list day-of just in case!

I didn't, but they sent me a form to fill out beforehand with a space to put the pictures that we didn't want them to miss. I think I put like 3 pictures then let them have creative freedom.

We did, they studiously ignored it. It was all good, they took amazing shots anyway.

We did give our photog a printed list of Must Takes (some of which are pretty standard ones) and then pictures examples of what we were looking for. When we went in to meet with him, we sat down and really focused on which photos were really 'must take' and which ones were 'take them if you can get them'.

I was very happy to see that he got majority of the ones we really wanted - almost perfect recreations of the samples.

Really try and narrow the ones you really really want and make sure your photog gets that these shots are very important to you.

,my DOC said they will have a copy of the list just to make sure we get what we want

Our photographer said to keep the list short since he wants to focus on taking pictures, not checking off a two-three page list
I trust his talent, so I'm leaving it in his hands!
