SUCH a big debate!!!! My FH doesn't care either way... but I am stuck!!! I was dead-set on not seeing him before the ceremony UNTIL we met with our photographer who pointed out... that in Nov all the leaves are so gorgeous and by having a night time wedding we wont be able to take any of those pics once the ceremony is done because it will be too dark...now Im torn... I want great pics but I also a little bit dont want him to see me before the ceremony... I guess it wouldn't be terrible to see him for an hour and get some great pics out of it??

Were doing pictures before the ceremony. When the phtographers do that they make a moment for the bride and groom to see each other for the first time so its still special

I am in the same situation since my wedding is in November and our ceremony isn't until 5:30pm. At first I never would have even thought about having pictures before the ceremony, but the more I thought about it, the more I came to love the idea. I think it will make me more relaxed to spend the day with FH taking pictures and not having to feel rushed after the ceremony to get them done during our cocktail hour. I also don't want to miss out on outdoor pictures. I think the moment where we first see each other, no matter where it is, will be special.

Get the pictures over with before hand or you're going to spend a good portion on your CH and some of your reception posing for pictures.

we did ours before and were so happy with our choice! we had a special moment captured by the photographer when we first saw eachother. we got all our posed pics done before the ceremoy with a half horu to relax. we were able to fully enjoy CH and reception without posing for pics! the photographer is able to spend more time taking action pics this way, too.

i completely agree. that was the number one reason that we decided to take pics before the ceremony. i want to be at my CH!! i don't want to miss anything!
plus, you really don't want all night time pictures, do you?? you'll be so happy when you look back at your pics and you have the beautiful fall colors. you're going to have a first moment of seeing each other. i think not matter where that happens, it will still be a beautiful moment.

I scheduled the ceremony and reception enought time apart for pictures after the ceremony.. I had contemplated about pictures before, but im the traditional type and I want to see FHs face as i walk down the aisle

My opinion is to take the pictures before your ceremony. But if it is very important for you to not see him before the ceremony, I would strongly suggest that you and FH take ALL your personal and family shots before the ceremony, outside if you can, this way after the ceremony you only have to take couple shots.

We decided to do before too. I didn't want to see FH before the ceremony either. But since there is no break between our ceremony & cocktail hour we would wind up missing alot of our wedding. So we're doing photos before & the photographer promised to have us see each other for the first time in private to capture the moment.

Well I would do it before if you really want the daylight pics. The leaves are beautiful in the fall and you should deifnetly take some pics before.

My DH saw me before the ceremony and in all honesty his face was priceless. He saw the top (not on me) but not the whole skirt. You know what it doesn't matter when he sees you first. Your moment will be yours. Please don't ruin a great chance to take some beautiful pictures. I wanted full fall colors for my wedding, but we had some strange weather last yr and I didn't get what I wanted. Don't miss out, those pictures will be there forever and you'll be very happy took them!

We saw each other before the ceremony. We wanted to be able to take all our pictures beforehand so we could attend our CH.
The photographer orchestrated the whole 'seeing each other' moment. It was amazing! And it didn't take away from walking down the aisle at all. I was still walking down the aisle towards my love, with my mom and dad on either side of me, blusher over my face.

Hi date twin, What time is your ceremony? Mine is at 3 and CH doesn't start until 7. We're going to take ours after b/c we'll still get some daylight. I'm sure you know this, but b/c daylight savings is later next fall, we get an extra hour of light than we normally would on Nov. 3. The sunset is sometime around 5:50, instead of 4:50.
However, if my ceremony was later than 3, than I would probably take pics beforehand.

we had the same issue...but my RH coordinator told us that there is a place to take pics 5 mins away...and just incase it doesnt work and you have to do b4 pics..work with you photographer to create the 1st time he sees you walk to him as though your walking down the aisle..have the bp standing as if it were the actually wedding...good luck

before.... we're rather non-traditional... I'm really looking forward to getting dressed with him that morning... it's such a bonding experience!
Also, in our culture, bride and groom walk down the isle together (no 'giving away' of a bride, rather she represents herself) so there is no first look down the isle.
So, it would be idiotic for us NOT to take pics beforehand, since we can then spend more time with our friends!
