Hey guys I am looking for a picture of 4 individuals holding the chuppah while the marriage is taking place. I am having this and wonder how it looked and turned out. Plus i would love to see how the decorations turned out. Thanks!

Re: Pictures of chuppah please :)
Wow , this is so funny. If you weren't aware my grandfather just passed on last week and this weekend I was going through photos. I came accross a really old picture of four men holding up a chuppah. I had never seen this before and asked my grandmother about the picture. It was my mother and fathers wedding...I had no idea.
I left the photo at my grandmothers house. Tomorrow I will scan it and post it.

i am so sorry to hear about your grandfather :( I hope you and your family are getting through it OK. Hang in there...
As long as you don't mind i would love to see the picture (and any others that anyone has). Most jewish people I know have/had a chuppah made that stands alone, but i wanted to incorporate my step brothers and cousins into the wedding ( we already had enough GM) so i figured i would have them hold one that had 4 poles (with my grandfathers talis across the top)

Re: Pictures of chuppah please :)
here are a few threads w/ pics of chuppahs several of them are handheld
I want my four best friends to stand at the poles of the chuppah but I'm not sure yet if they're going to actually hold the chuppah up. Has anyone ever heard of that?....can people just stand at the four corners--sort of as though they're 'symbolically' holding it up? i just think it's going to be too much of a pain to try and have the florist decorate a chuppah that's going to be lifted off the ground. Plus, I don't even know yet if I'm going to hang a tallis from the center of it, so what would they really be holding up?

Re: Pictures of chuppah please :)
if u're going to have one hand-held, then it should just be a canopy or tallis, not a floral chuppah. if it's going to be free-standing, then it can be decorated how ever u like.
our chuppah is going to be free standing w/ a tallis.

i am with you, i already asked the guys tomdo it so i cant back out now, but i am stressing as to how its going to work out...are they going to walk down the aisle with it, should i decorate the polls, is the talis going to be big enough, i am sure it will work out though
I think its nice if you have the 4 people stand by it,. I dont think any one will say anything negative or question it

Is it weird to have a floral chuppah and then have four people standing at each 'pole'? and how do those people GET there? do they walk down the aisle? i mean, it's not like they're going to be carrying the chuppah, because mine is going to already be up on the bema. so do they just walk down the aisle as if they're bridesmaids and then go up to the chuppah? i'm so confused!

not at all, actually i know i have seen a pic of it somewhere, it was nice, they can even just put one hand on it, if it makes you feel better (to look like they are holding it)
i am having the guys be the first one down the aisle, and either having the florist have the chupah in place ready to be lifted (all 4 guys i have are built luckily LOL) or if its not to heavy i will have them just walk down carrying it

Bonnie - I'll have to see if I have any pics from my father and Doris' wedding. They had 4 people holding the chuppah as well. I know I have a disk somewhere with pictures on it.

Re: Pictures of chuppah please :)
they are not the best pictures
the first one is one guy carrying the chuppah with the others walking next tow and behind
the second it a picture on the alter - they actually had to hold the chuppah in place because it was so windy - but it went into umbrella like stands

Re: Pictures of chuppah please :)
I saw a gorgeous chuppah in this month's Bride's magazine. It was white with white vines embroidered into it and crystals hanging from it on 4 poles. It was on page 500 and something.
