They are coming from no running water, waering dirty dirty clothes..to this..its a good change, but they may not see it as good, their little lives are going to be turned upside down..its gotta be scary. And when they meet me..theyre really going to eb scared..cause Im going to be a blubbering crying mess.

Og man..you guys are soooo sweet!!! Limom..we were looking into adoption..we thought we wanted a baby or a toddler..so we started looking at every country, you name it..we looked domestically as well, we looked at Guatemala, Russia, China, ukraine, Bolivia, Poland, Haiti, Kasazkhstan..those are just a few. i literally contacted EVERY agency in the US and had STACKS of pamphlets..I mean TONS...I was getting so frustrated, I jpined chat boards on adopting from different countries and theer was so much crap that came with it..so Im not an extremely religious person..but I started REALLY praying..one day I got 12 packages from different agencies and I said another prayer and I was opening each pacakge and they all said the same things..when i opened up a page and there was just the cutest baby Id ever seen..and I said well where is he from..turns out he was from Ethiopian..I didnt even know we cxould adopt from there..so I called them and found out it is sucha wonderful program. Turns out there are only four agencies in the US that are allowed to adopt from Ethiopia..thats why I hadnt read about it before. So once I realized the details involved..I said ok..its Ethiopia, but we were still planning on adopting a younger child..I was checking out the four agencies and kept hearing exceptionally graet stories about one particular agency..so theys end outa video of the older children and I wanted to see it so that I could get a feel for what their living conditions were like..so Im watching the video, there were 90 children on there..all beautiful..but my heart stopped when Biruk came on the screen...I replayed him over andover..then I watched a few more kids and then paulos came up and That was it. I was screaming for my husband to come and see.. I said to my husband I found some boys, they are 7 and 8..I think we should get em both.. and that was it..we never looked anywhere else..Biruk was ALMOST adopted by another family, when I asked for him I was told he was being adopted..but THANKFULLY the family chose to adopt a baby instead!!! YEA! So we got lucky, both boys were available..we just had to complete our homestudy and pray that noone adopted them in the meantime..it all worked out, I was able to place a hold, then signed the contract and now noone can adopt them!!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAA
Its been a crazy journey, but once I found out about Ethiopia, I couldnt find a single reason to not adopt from there, not one reason!!!
I dont have a doubt in my mind about this..we are so excited and the support we are receiving is amazing..our families are so incredible and are so excited to have these gorgeous children as part of our family, my sister is already buying them clothes..our friends are very suooprtive and so is everyone on here!!! We heard alot of stupid comments from some people..and Im sure Ill hear more..but for the most part..everyone is GREAT! We just have alot to learn about African hair care, skin care. etc. My husband is very dark skinned, but he is not African Ameriva,. He is a mix of Indian, german, Venezuelan and Portugese..and his hair is PIN straight. anyhow..Limom..thats my story! Arent you glad you asked!

Alicia, I love your story! I'm a firm believer that things fall into place when something is meant to be. This is exactly why it's all working out. May the next few months go quickly for you. And I hope you are ignoring all the ignorant people of the world. (I never before realized that ignore and ignorant have the same root word!) We should learn to feel sorry for them, for they are the ones who lose in the end.

Wow! I know everyone said it already but it usually doesn't happen to me - your story brought tears to my eyes!! These boys are soooo fortunate to be going to such a warm and loving couple. I can't tell you how much I admire the fact that you're adopting older children because they're the ones who need it the most. You will be an amazing mother!

Oh thanks sooo much!!! Everytime I read what someone writes..I start to cry..you all say such nice, wonderful kind things!!! THANK YOU!!! I just found out today, our paperwork is in DC at the embassy and should head over to Ethiopia within the next few weeks...Im counting down,,keeping as busy as I possibly can..I need time to FLY! But thanks again everyone for your support! Where have you all been all my life!???
