Pictures Pre-Ceremony

Pictures Pre-Ceremony

Sorry for all the threads - I'm obsessed w/ this site. Hah!

Is anyone doing pictures pre-ceremony? We originally wanted to first see eachother as I'm walking down the aisle, but because it starts at 7pm, and we want to enjoy the cocktail hour w/ our guests, we're going to do pictures beforehand. Does anyone have any cute ideas of what to do? I LOVE the pictures of the bride waiting and the bride walking up to him. So sweet.

we're not. I don't want to see FH before we get married so we're doing it right after the ceremony. Which starts at 4 and ending at 530 (w/ receiving line). CH starts at 7 and it's an hour and a half so we're hoping that's more than emough time to get to CH or catch a part of it

yep, we are going to do that! We are going to do our 'first moment photo' about 4 hours before we acutally get married at the beach near our RH. Then we're going to get some pics of the bridal party at the beach and possibly a vineyard. We want to take ALL our pics prior to the ceremony so we can enjoy CH. HTH!

Awesome!! THat's what we're thinking of also. Plus just based on the time, since our Ceremony and reception are in the same place, we want to enjoy the whole time with everyone and take pics partying it up Now just need to find places to do so!

We are definitely doing this. I don't want to spend the entire reception saying hi to people! We are going to do a 'reveal' as well, probably at the hotel then go to take pictures with the bridal party somewhere fun beforehand. Then take some formals with the family at the RH right before the ceremony since our ceremony and reception are also at the same place!

Ditto to that...

Adelina I think it depends on your timeline and how you have it set up.. When you do your ceremony and CH in the same place you sacrifice one thing either not seeing him before or missing out on your CH...

I've seen it done both ways and I prefer seeing him when I'm walking down the aisle first

Totally - we wish we could do the reveal while I'm walking down the aisle, but we also want to make sure to get some pics in daylight, and there's going to be about 30 minutes after the ceremony before the sun sets. HOpefully we can still capture the same feeling :)

Yea, my friends did that but back home in California, it was like 2-3 hours before at this beautiful park. Just them.... then they all took pictures together then the ceremony in the church happened. She still was crying when she walked down the aisle...

I think it will be great no matter what you choose

We are going to do a reveal at either planting fields or old westburry gardens and take pics there and then take pics with our bridal party and go to the RH from there.

we are doing the reveal before the ceremony.

we are paying way to much money and we refuse to miss our cocktail hour.

Tradition went out the window when we decided not to do the whole church thing

I'm going the traditional route- FH & I will not see each other until I walk down the aisle. To me, this is the most exciting moment and I can't wait.

Although, I can definately understand doing a pre-ceremony reveal if your ceremony isn't starting until 7PM. I think these are special in their own way, it's just a matter of personal preference.

We will do our pics before. I feel like you get to take each other in more that way. If you see each other for the first time on the aisle, it's so quick and you have to go right to the ceremony. You can't hug, kiss or talk. It's just right to business. You will get much better pics of that first look if you do it before. The photographer can get a much better angle without being in the way of your guests. I want to enjoy my CH, but I think we will do a few pics then too, like with grandparents so they don't have to come early if they don't want to. Our ceremony ends and goes right to CH so it's not like we have that time you get when you have a church ceremony.
It's a personal decision. I used to be against it due to tradition, but the way our day works it's just much better for us this way. You have to see what works for you.

Re: Pictures Pre-Ceremony

We are taking our pics before hand. We are going to Old Westbury Gardens 2 hours before the ceremony. Since FH and i would have to see eachother before hand anyway ( to sign the Ketubah) we figured we might as well get our pics of us and the bridal party out of the way so we dont have to rush and miss all of CH.

We are defiantly going to do the first look photo where FH is waiting for me and im either going to be walking down the steps in the OWG mansion or out in the gardens somewhere. I always wanted the first time he was going to see me is when i was walking down the aisle but our first look will be just as special!

I think we are doing the pre-ceremony reveal too. My fiance is super superstitious and didn't really want to, but when I explained that the alternative was us missing the CH and also making it so that our bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, etc would have to miss part of it he relented.

Plus, as someone said above, the photog can get the good mushy pictures
