PIS vs Purely Yours

PIS vs Purely Yours

I am trying to decide on a pump. I am at the point where I need to pump almost full time. Which pump does everyone like and why??

I was given the following information:

The Pump IN Style and the Purely Yours were made for the full time working mom or the mom who will need to pump many times daily. Pumping times are about 10 minutes or less with these pumps. They were made to increase and sustain milk supply over long periods of time. The Pump In Style is MUCH quieter than the Purely Yours. And, the Pump In style is known for its reliability and longevity. But, the Purely Yours has a closed system. Outside bacteria and viruses cannot get into the motor and contaminate the milk. So, milk purity is guaranteed!

Thanks

I have the PIS Advance and I use it mainly to pump at work, but also in the morning and evening at home. So far I like it, it does make noise, but it isn't overly loud. HOwever I wish it would take 10 minutes or less, realistically it is more like 15-20 to get the maximum amount. On average I get 2-3 oz per side in about 20 minutes, but everyone will vary on this.

Both are made nearly the same. PIS has more marketing money behind it. The owners of the companies are brothers and they have a total monopoly (smart boys) on this market.
I pumped full-time for 1 year and NEVER got enough in 10 minutes. I pumped for 20 minutes, usually 30 minutes a number of times per day. I owned a PIS Advanced (PISA) and it worked great. I have no complaints.
The milk purity is a big claim for the Purely Yours but after doing some research I found that there were no issues with this in the PIS/PISA either. You would have to put something in the milk on purpose for there to be an issue. It is not the same system but the risks of a virus just getting into your milk are practically null, plus the minute you take the horns off your breasts the milk gets exposed to air with either system.

I also wanted to ask you why you need to pump full-time and how old is your baby? Have you tried a lacation consultant? Not the one in the hospital but a profesional, paid one? If your baby is under 10 weeks you need to rent a hospital grade pump and use that for a while. A PIS/PISA/Purely Yours is not made to establish milk supplies but rather support an already established milk supply. SOME insurance companies will cover the cost of a LC and/or rental pump. I have a great LC in Babylon if you want her info let me know.
If you have a latching problem she may be able to get your baby back on the breast for you.

I have the PISA and I only pump for 10 minutes at a time and can get anywhere from 6-12 ounces - EVERYONE is different. I have never had a problem pumping daily, even with a manual pump.

I purchased the PISA because I returned to work full time and am away from my baby for 10 hrs a day. I currently pump 2x a day or just about every 3 1/2-4 hours. I feed him in the AM before I leave him and them feed him in the PM once I see him again. It does make a noise but its not horribly loud. I have had no problems with it at all.

As others have suggested on here, I would buy it online (but not from BABYAGE - looong story but they charged my credit card said they shipped it and didnt until almost 2 1/2 wks later!!!) - I got mine at BRU because I was in a jam at the time and paid full price
