I know this has been posted before but just curious who is taking pictures before ceremony or if anyone has done this? Will it take away from our first moment seeing each other?
Our ceremony and reception are in the same place and I think the only way we're going to be able to get alot of pictures done is to take them beforehand. Don't think we'll be able to get the family together that early but at least we'll have our pictures done and the wedding party. Then, hopefully during the cocktail hour we can do the family.
Thanks

Re: Pix before ceremony
I am doing this and my photogrpher is going to set up a 'moment' for us to see each other for the first time at the garden where we are taking our pictures. Talk to your photographer so they can help you set somethingup that will make that moment still be special even though it is not taking place as you walk down the aisle.

Re: Pix before ceremony
We are doing pics before the ceremony, only because we are getting married at the RH and we don't have that traditional break in between. We also don't want to miss out on the CH, it will give us time to talk to some folks before the reception starts. I want to be able to enjoy that as well.
As for the 'first moment seeing each other', your photographer will arrange something to capture that moment, whether it is you coming down a staircase, walking up behing FH and tapping him on the shoulder, etc.
Choice is totally up to you. I feel that seeing each other before hand won't take away from him seeing me walk down the aisle. It is still emotional.

Re: Pix before ceremony
Thanks, ladies,
I do actually feel that it will be more romantic seeing him beforehand. Meeting with photographer tonight so I'll make sure he knows we need a little private time together with the wedding party waiting in the wings.
Have a great day.

Re: Pix before ceremony
Honestly, my FH helped me pick out my dress, we're going to be getting ready together, i think it adds to the fun of the day really..
We're going to be doing a TON of pics before the ceremony, with family and people who flew out just for the wedding - so it's all whatever you want to do!!!

Re: Pix before ceremony
We are doing photos at the Old Westbury Gardens before the ceremony, so we will set something up for him to see me for the first time. Then we can really enjoy ourselves during cocktail hour. Im counting on getting a lot of photojournalistic photos the rest of the night.

Re: Pix before ceremony
We did pictures before the ceremony and I HIGHLY recommend it. I was worried about it taking away from the moment but I think it was way better. He almost made me cry when he saw me cause he kept saying how beautiful I looked. I was so happy we didn't miss our cocktail hour and we got to spend soooo much time together alone on our wedding day. As soon as the wedding starts that's it....people everywhere. Also, I think taking pictures before the ceremony is the way to go because once I start seeing our guest filter in I wanted to talk to everyone....there was no way they were going to pull me away after that

Re: Pix before ceremony
Hi,
For all of you who are taking pictures before ceremony at a place other than your reception location, how are you working going to the reception after pictures? Are you and FH going to ride together since you've already seen each other and let the wedding party go in other car or keep it the way you came to picture location with you and the girls in one car and FH and the guys in the other?
Thanks

We did. We still had the moment we first saw each other, and in a way I think it was nicer this way, as it was just the two of us (and the photographer), it wasn't everyone watching us. And we could hug and kiss and talk, which you can't when you're about to have your ceremony! We did it as it was important to us not to miss any of our reception, we had the ceremony and reception at the same place like you. I'm glad we did the photos first.

Re: Pix before ceremony
It's very true--I loved spending that much more time with my husband (fiance at that point!) And it's also true that once the wedding starts, there's people everywhere and they all want to talk to you and say congrats. That's why we loved the Jewish tradition of the yichud where the bride and groom go off alone together for a few minutes immediately after the ceremony. We went up to the bridal suite and hugged and kissed and said 'We DID it!!' I cried. It was very special to have those few minutes alone with my new husband. Unfortunately, the Maitre'D and bridal attendant didn't know or forgot about the yichud and knocking on the door wanting us or asking us questions, so we kept it to only a few minutes. Besides, we wanted to go to our cocktail hour and eat the yummy food.

Hmmm We met at our Reception location, drove around alone to take pictures then came back to the Reception to meet everyone else. But I would probably get back in the car with the girls since you're going to have to separate to walk down the isle anyway.

Re: Pix before ceremony
I think a lot of people are relieved to see each other beforehand and get pictures out of the way. so we are doing that.
plus no one can calm me down like fh does. I'll be a nervous crazy wreck on the day of. just for him to hold me and say it's going to be perfect and i'm beautiful will make my day 10000x better.

Re: Pix before ceremony
My FH wants to take pictures before the ceremony but I do not want to. I think it wrecks the whole moment of first seeing each other. I am planning on not taking pictures with him before the ceremony and if it does happen then it is against my wishes and what I want. I do not want him to see me before the ceremony and I feel very strongly about it and I really do hope he respects my wishes and does what I want since I have been doing everything he wants with our wedding. I guess you can say he is the bridezilla. . It is sad how he want total control over the wedding, the colors I am suppose pick out for our wedding, the engagement party, the honeymoon and the one year anniversary. I feel it is all about him and not me. I feel like I am not apart of anything and mean while it is suppose to be a day about us and he is taking control of everything and making it unfair.

Re: Pix before ceremony
I think we will take our pics before the ceremony as well. We are having our ceremony at our RH so there really wouldn't be much time to take pics in between and I definately don't want to miss out on the whole cocktail hour. I will ask the photographer to set up a a way to surprise FH. I still think it will be special.
