is anyone not doing this? I really don't want to spend additional $$ on this unless its tacky not to do it. I really want to do votive place card holders but i feel that its not worth the time and $$. anyone else?

Re: place card holders
I did the votives and it was VERY time consuming, it's a nice touch. But not necessary!

Re: place card holders
I'm not doing them, I'm just using the ones that the RH provides. Most of the time they end up in the garbage anyway so I didn't feel the need to waste my time and $$.

Re: place card holders
there are plenty inexpensive place card holders.. Oriental trading has a place card holder which is a bell with a wire type thing to hold the card... 12 for 5.95 that is very cheap like someone said no one keeps them so why waste big bucks...

Re: place card holders
I found a placecard holder I liked, found the model number, and searched the internet for it. Found the best price at weddingaccessories.net and bought 64 of them for about $1.43 each.

Re: place card holders
i was going back and forth for a while with what i wanted to do with the placecards/holders. i decided i didn't want to spend more money on a holder so i just had a custom made placecard made with our monogram. it's not your run of the mill white placecard but it's not over the top either. i got them on ebay for $25 for 100. not bad!
oh yeah, then i had table #'s made (from the same vendor) that match the placecards.

Re: place card holders
I am doing the votives as a favor but I am actually just doing the place cards for the guests to pickup.

Re: place card holders
Our favor is a favor/candle holder in one b/c of budget! Each couple will get one of these:
I have been to tons of weddings lately (I'm at that age when all of my friends are getting married), and I have never seen place card holders.
Don' t think it's a big deal if you don't have them, and I don't plan to have them.

We are doing silver swans....since we are getting married at the swan club...I thought it would be cute...and then people can take them home as a momento of our wedding

I am still undecided but I am leaning more towards the 'no' side as of now. I dont think it will make a difference if you have them or not IMO.

Re: place card holders
I have gone back and forth between this but I am not having any and I will tell you why. I have gone to plenty of weddings where they have had great holders but guess who is holding them during cocktail hour, then it's like what should I do with this thing. Then I finally put it down and you forget to take it with you. IMO, it is a waste of $$$, I do think it is a nice touch when you walk in but not necessary.

Re: place card holders
I've never been to a wedding that DID do them...I know people do them, but in reality, that little tent card your hall will likely provide is fine.

Re: place card holders
My hall doesn't do placecards - they escort the guests to their seats based on an alphabetical list I provide.
