place cards

Anyone have a good idea for unique place cards? I love the candle tealight idea, but am just looking at other options too. Thanks!

Re: place cards

I used a vendor from this board to have my childhood portraits done for our wedding pictures (Picture Yourself Graphics). We loved the portrait so much, we had them made into place cards. It was a great idea, and we had so many of our guests loving it and it sure created a few smiles. I thought it was a really cute idea.

Re: place cards

I loved mine...they are from a woman in denmark...the only problem is that it costs money to transfer the money to her account, so it probably won't make it too cost efficient, but they are beatuiful!!

Re: place cards

Not sure what your favors are but Ive seen it tied into that - so you can tie a card onto to the favor with that info, or print a CD cover for a CD favor. You get the idea.

Other ideas include:
plain placecards on a bed of carnations (photos in the last Martha Stewart)
little umbrellas in a sand box if you're having a beach theme
leaf shaped cards stuck into pots to look like plants
tags with ribbon hanging off trees

Re: place cards

I'm attaching placecards to frosted pinecones on a bed of fake snow for my winter wedding. I wish I could figure out how to make the card look like a snowflake!! They will surround an acrylic snowman I bought last year...

Re: place cards

Sonicsteph-question on your candle placecards. How are you treating 'and guest' if you don't know the name of the guest? Are you just putting the name of the person invited and table number of actually writing out 'and guest' on the placecard?

Re: place cards

I am also doing the place candles and will call my guests to make sure I have everyone's name. I think 'and guest' is very inpersonal. It only takes a few minutes to call someone and ask for their guest's name.

Re: place cards

I agree with Michele...it taks a little time, but find out the guest's name...

Re: place cards

As for the guest situation....I assume most people will write in the name of their guest on their RSVP card. For those that dont I will either a)just write the name of the main invitee since I assume they will know they are sitting together or b) write & guest.

I really don't care about the etiquette here. If people are concerned about beinglisted by name - they will write it out on the card.

Re: place cards

My instinct was to just go with the name of the main invitee...just wanted to see what others were doing. Thanks!
