Place cards

Do you write Mr. John Doe and guest or do you actually need the name of the guest?
Most people don't tell you who they are bringing.

I did one card per person, even the guests. I had to make a few calls, but I ended up getting the names of everyone.

we are putting both of their names. Anyone we don't know their name we are contacting some one in the family to get it for us.

So does it look horrible if you don't have their names on them? Sometimes people say theya re bringing someone but change last minute...then what?

I am writing and guest if I don't know who they are brining.

Re: Place cards

Should the place cards be as formal as the invitation? For example, Invitation = Mr. and Mrs. John Smith.

Should the place cards match this or could I just say Jane and John Smith?

I think they should be as formal as the invite but who knows. That's what I am doing.

Re: Place cards

I guess it makes things easier since I already have the formal names typed up for the invites. All I have to do for the placecard is copy and paste!

I will be keeping the formal names as well as writing the actual name of the guest.

re: the formality -- it all depends, i think, on what kind of affair you are having. if you are having a more informal atmopshere, then do 'john and sue smith' - but if you want a more formal look, go for it. I do not think it matters too much which way you do it.

I plan to put both names on place car - we have just about every name - if not it'll be and guest. Too much to write a card for each person.
