Place Cards/ Seating chart- board

Whats everyones take on the place cards vs. the Seating chart/board.......

I usually have only sean the place cards but on here have heard of girls doing that seating board where everyones name is listed with their table next to it. What do you guys think ?

2010er crashing

pros: it's different and cool and pretty!

cons:
lots of people may crowd around the chart.
more expensive (potentially) than regular seating cards.
if i look at my table number at CH, i will prob forget where i'm supposed to sit by the time reception starts.

just make sure your RH can provide an easel to display the chart on

I had planned on doing the seating chart cause i thought it was really nice; but to save $$ might just use the place cards the RH provides!

yeah-- and i was thinking-- last minute if you get it ordered from somewhere you can add. Also then its not as easy to tell who didnt come

I like the board better. looks classier imo.

plus it looks neater. no clutter and mess.

I really like the idea of the board, but.....

They can be super expensive. And our hall gives us place cards for free. I just can't justify the expense or the time it would take to do it myself.

This is one of the things that FH insisted on so we are doing a Seating Chart. CB provides an easel and I'm comfortable making the chart DIY. We'll have it on display during the CH and then we will have it moved to the reception entrance for guests that forgot what table they are at.

We are using nice holders and placecards on the actual tables too. FH wanted them to dress up the table instead of having them on display during the CH.

At least he's enthusiastic!

PWP had one of them on display at the last Fox Hollow wedding showcase and it would have been $400 to RENT!!! I almost fell on the floor.

It could definitely be done much cheaper DIY.

i went to a wedding with a board and it was a mess! There was a big crowd of ppl and the print was to small to see from far away... personally i didnt like it

I would steer clear of the board. We were at a wedding a couple years ago that did that and it took us a while to find our seats because the writing was so small, so many people were crowding around it, and there was no method to the madness. It's still something we're talking about, but not in a good way.

Good points on the possibility of crowds around it...

I love the idea of the seating chart. Ive seen some beautiful ones. You really could do it yourself.

The problem w that is that you may have to wait until last minute with any seating changes.

Im torn bc I dont want to give up my little pumpkins! Lol

We are going to be doing a seating chart - one of my many DIY projects. I really like the way it came out - of course it won't be complete until I know the actual seating assigments but the layout is all done.

It isn't really costing too much $$ to do. The frame came out around $20 after all the discounts at Michael's and to print it on Winkflash or Shutterfly would come out to at most $25.
