Place to have a baptism ?

Ok, back to asking the experts...
I wanted to have JohnAnthony's baptism party at home, because I am a practical person and because I like to chat the night away, and not be kicked out after 5 hours at a restaurant...

BUT its not realistic to have it at my house. We did have my MIL's 60th here, but it was summer time and 65 people were spread out in and out of the house, and it didnt seem crowded at all that way.
But to have 60 people IN the house (wont be backyard weather ), would be just too crowded and I also would like everyone in ONE room at least for the cake part, LOL... Now I am holding out till April (he will be 6months old-shame on me, waiting that long!) because I want any chance of bad weather out of the way (And who promises you great weather in April ???)
I DID Want to have it at home, and PRAY that I would be able to set up tables outside, but my brother gave me a reality check, that April is NOT summer...
Should I wait till MAY (and pray for that sun) or just have it somewhere else ?

If you can give me options of places, this is my criteria: (Location i'm not picky on, because my family is all in Queens and very few in Jersey) so im undecided between having it out here, over in Queens or in between, to save some people driving.. (Church is in Smithtown).
I was thinknig maybe a Knights of Columbus ?
As far as restaurants, i'd like one where there will be room to mingle, maybe dance ?? I HATE when youre seated at 3 long tables for the whole 5 hours.
I'd rather be squushed at home !

I don't know your budget but what about Cafe on the Green in Queens?

I havent really thought of a budget, but i'd say no more than $35pp.

Alright Anna, in Queens you have Casa Blanca (dj and dance floor), over in good old Maspeth!!! Pat's, another Maspeth site. There's Abbracciamento's over on Woodhaven Blvd., they expanded and have rooms big enough for a dj.

Then there's my favorite, Verdi's in Whitestone. You could have a dj there. Umberto's in New Hyde Park (no dj). There's a really nice KofC on Marcus Ave. in New Hyde Park. It looks like a catering hall!

There's also Roma View on Woodhaven Blvd. next to Russo's on the Bay. I went to a christening there and the food was really good and it was really nice. You can have a dj there.

Give me a few and I can think of some other places I've been to and know about!

I also recommend Abbraciamento's on Woodhaven Blvd. Food is great, and you can have a DJ - there are a couple of rooms there with dance floor. It is also so attractive. Check it out if you have never been there. In my opinion have it sooner rather than later in a restaurant - easier and you can enjoy yourself!

My cousin was nine months old at his baptism. It was cute becuase he was so much bigger than the other babies. That was in Smithtown and the partay was at Smithtown Landing. I believe there are different sized rooms. We had one of the smaller ones, although there was a dj and a dance floor. When I was looking to book my wedding they were about 60/pp for a Sat night, but if you are having a Sunday afternoon affair, which baptisms often are, then you can probably get a much better price.

I don't know too much in between Smithtown and Queens. I am a Suffolk County chick.

Ive been to almost all the places you mentioned Debbie, except for Roma view. We're going there Feb 1st for my brothers MIL's 60th.
Abbracciamento is EXCELLENT, thats one to look into..I also liked the food at Carosello's across from Russo's..(theyre the same owners right? as well as Giardino's in Douglaston)..
My bridal shower was at the Giardino's in Roslyn on Old Northern Blvd, I can also give them a call...
oh boy, all these options....

Yup, Carosello is another one and the same owners as Giardino. Abbracciamento's has really good prices also. We had our engagement dinner there and it was family style and we had a lot of choices.

Anna, I'm not sure about price, but I went to a baptism at The Country House in Stony Brook. The food was first rate, and they had a DJ, so I know there is room for dancing!

There is a Knights of Columbus in Oceanside. Its a really nice room - I've been to a few weddings and engagement parties there (I would say it could hold 200pp). If you want me to find out some infor for you just FM me

I just want you to laugh at this one-- when we started talking about TTC I picked Feb as one of the first months that we would try as a due date month--and the reason because then we could have the christening at our house!!! how pathetic is that!!! but I have many of the same thoughts you do--hate being in a restaurant for parties--love our huge backyard and can envision beautiful white tents in it---
the funniest part--is it really stuck and we will start to TTC in April

Hey, wait, you should also think about the child's birthday party's ! (feb is freezing!!) John Anthony's birthday is in October and now he cant have pool parties ! I am seriously thinking of having a party for him in late August just so we still have the pool open ! I really want him to (especially when he's a toddler) to be able to have backyard parties !
Im sure by the time he's in 2nd grade, he'll be tired of all the BBQ's we have all summer and will want a Bob the Builder party or something (or God knows what will be 'the in thing' in 5 years !!

Hi Anna, I recently went to a friend's parents anniversary party at Paparazzi (Jericho Tpke and Glen Cove Rd) and thought it was a very nice place. The food was excellent, we were in a private room, there was a dance floor and a bar in the room, service was great. I have no idea of $ per person, though.

Anna ... I didn't stalk you! Yeah, that was a fun night at Papa Razzi's!
What about King Umbertos ... that's where my shower was and the food was amazing.
Also, wouldn't it be funny if you had JohnAnthony's baptism at John Anthony's!
I'll keep thinking .. but keep us posted on your progress.

Too funny-- I am a summer baby(July 31) and always hated it because I never got to celebrate in school--but I def agree that summer birthdays are so much easier!!! We figure we will start for Feb and it will take us a few months(hopefully, fingers crossed) so I might just get that summer baby--
The funny thing is 5 of our 7 nieces are born in April plus our anniversary and his Mom's birthday so I joke that when we start if we are not pregnant by then--we will take the April month off--crazy, huh!!!!
Coral House is another place to think of--they had my shower there and it was great
