Do I have to find out the names of my friends' significant others? Or will Mr. So and So & Guest be okay (if i've never met or barely know the significant other)

Maybe Mr. Alex Smith & Jennifer if that works...

I would go with the name they put on the reply card.

i think if you dont know them well or dont know their names they qualify for the 'and Guest'.

They didn't put their significant other's name on the reply card...they just put 2 attending...and their own names
I don't even know the first names of some of these significant others!!!

ETA: only if the relationship is not very serious. if it is long term, i might ask for their name from the friend.

Re: placecard etiquette question...
if you could find out the names i would say do that, but you have such a short period of time now so not sure if you'll be able to do so...are there alot of SO's names you don't know? i mean if you can find out some of their names then that would be good but if not then just put 'and guest' you said you don't know them so its not your fault they didn't put their SO's name on the reply card, if you knew the couple well and didnt put one of their names then that would be different

Re: placecard etiquette question...
i would put as much information as you know. if its easy to find out last names, then its nicer to do it that way.
if you have to, you can use '& guest' when you don't know the name at all.
