Placecard Ideas

Ok ladies..I havent been on here since the fall, but I just checked back in today and forgot how addicting it can be!!
Anyway, I am looking for placecard ideas. My wedding is pink and sage themed, and is in the summer time. I really wanted something a little different. I did attempt the votive placecards, but am not sure if I am quite crafy enough for that challenge....
I am desperate for ideas...I had considered:
1. Plain pink paper ones w scallop edge
2. Those tall little lollipops that come in flowers and hearts
3. Small boxes of candy with a placecard label
TIA!!!

Re: Placecard Ideas

In one of the first magazines I bought, there was a picture of bare branches set in tall rectangular glass vases with pebbles in them. Hanging from the branches were flower shaped placecards!!!

I purchased colored foam (yellow, ivory and lavendar), cut out 2 different flower shapes, punched a hole in the top for a piece of contrasting ribbon to hang from the branches and will print out the names and table names on a piece of nice card stock and glue them together. I just need to get the branches from my florist and pick up the vases.

Re: Placecard Ideas

I love the lollipop idea! I'm getting married way out east, in summer, and doing the pink and green color scheme too. Although our theme is a Hamptons theme, and not a wine theme, we are making placecard holders out of wine corks - hot gluing 2 side-by-side and then a third one perpendicular at the bottom, that way the card can slide into the crack between the perpendicualr cork and the parallel corks. Then, we're lining the edges of the cards themselves with thin pink and green ribbon. I still think this fits in with the area of the wedding since there's so many vineyards out there!

Thanks for your suggestions....
I am doing a monogrammed cookie and m and ms as favors, so i wasnt sure if the lollipops might be too much. Do you have pictures of either of your ideas?
I saw an idea similar to the flower one and Ive kept it in my file...
The corks are a cool idea. I also so a post earlier today of a single cork placecard..thats a GREAT idea!!!!

I'm kind of a plain jane girl (self admitted) so I always sway towards those things. My suggestion would be to get cardstock in sage and pink and then make tent cards. One way would be to have the sage as the full length tent card and the the pink would fold over but not all the way down...then use the scalloped edge scissors for the pink bottom. Does that make sense? You could print the seating info on the pink before you cut it.

Would you really have the patience to try this random thing out for a stranger?Im thinknig you must have lots of your OWN wedding planning to do!!
I kind of get your idea with the cardstock....
I have several crafty friends who are throwing ideas at me and Im thinking, ok, great, sure...wait till you see the result. I am not crafty so much!!!! I just need to make a decision and be done. Anyone ever get that in planning?????

Along the same lines, you could do some in sage and some in pink, and alternate each color in a different row.

I've heard about the single cork idea, it just doesn't seem like it would be sturdy enough to me to hold the placecard up without falling over. Could work though. I don't have any pics yet, but I'm hoping to get a sample done soon. I'll share when I have one.

Re: Placecard Ideas

I think whoever it was on the board was getting a little brown map pin to prop up the back of each single cork.

And ang... i dont know ya but.... whip out the cardstock!!!!!! Id love to see a sample.
It gives me hives to think of anything that crafty!!!!

Re: Placecard Ideas

How about putting a scratch off in a velum envelope with the table info printed on a clear label or a pretty label. Then the people have something to do when they sit down.

Re: Placecard Ideas

I got favor tins from Micheals they are metal with clear lids. They come with labels to put in the clear lid. I am putting the guests name and table # on the label and filling them with heart candy ( thats my theme, hearts)
