placecard ideas

Does anyone have any ideas for inexpensive placecards??... I'm having about 250 guests so i would need quiet a few of them...i don't want to spend alot of money on these but I hate the idea of using the catering halls placecards!!

One idea is the DIY votive placacards... Is anyone making these? If so, how much are the materials and any suggestions for where to but them?

Michael's and Party City sell blank place cards that you can print on. They give you directions on how to format the page in Word and usually a sample printing sheet so you can test it out before you print on the real thing. Mine were simple but they turned out very nicely.

At the last minute the hall gave me ahard time about lighting them and I almost lost it!! Everyone loved them, and DH and I didnt see people walking into the reception, but everyone said it was incredible to see all of the lights flickering in peoples hands as they walked to the tables! I'm hoping that Pennylane got some of that on video!
