So I'm about to start printing placecards and I'm not sure what to do about 'and guest.' When am I supposed to write the guests name or just 'and guest'?
Some friends have long time significant others that I know well and I was thinking of putting those names on the placecards. Other people/friends have significant others for a short time and even though I know their name, I don't know if should put the guests names. Sorry if I'm making this more confusing. I just want to know if I should just write 'and guest' for those bringing a date or if I know the persons name, should I write it out?
TIA!!

Re: Placecard question
For those people whose guests I know by name, I just wrote that on the placecards. For others who I don't know, I wrote '& Guest'.

Re: Placecard question
I would always write the person's name. Try to get the names of the guests. If you can't, then write 'And Guest' but it always looks much nicer if you have their name.

Re: Placecard question
If I knew their names, I included it. Especially if the person you invited RSVP'd with their guest's name - I'd say include it. I only used '& Guest' if that's how they RSVP'd and I didn't know who they were bringing.

Re: Placecard question
If you know you the name of the invited then you should put their name on the seating card, if you don't know the name of the person and they did not write it on the RSVP card, then I would put 'and Guest'. If you have the time and would like to make it all that more formal, then call up or email the people that you don't know the names of their guests and ask them for their guests full name.

Re: Placecard question
that's what i figured too. i know most of them, but there are a few people who haven't told me who they are bringing at this point and i'm not going to keep asking. so i will just write 'and guest' for them. thanks so much!!!

This is what I did. We found out every single guest's name and put it on the placecards....much nicer that way...I always prefer having my name on it than being DH's 'guest' (before we were married)

Re: Placecard question
We hunted down people's guests names as best as possible otherwise they got Mr. or Mrs. John Smith and Guest.
