Placecard Wording HELP!!!

I'm working on placecards but have no idea how to word them - I have several questions:

*Is it OK to put 'John & Jane Doe - table 1' instead of the more formal 'Mr. & mrs. John Doe - table 1'?

*If someone is bringing a guest, is it horrifying to just put 'John Doe and Guest' & not find out their guest's name? It was hard enough just trying to get these folks to RSVP in a timely fashion & I don't wanna call most of them again for that.

*How do you list kids on the placecard? Should I put 'John, Jane and Kid Doe' or 'John and Jane Doe and Kid'?

*Finally - I planned on doing 1 placecard per couple/family (w/kids) & 1 for every single person.

I prefer the Mr & Mrs

You should always find out the guests name.

I put Mr & Mrs Rxxxx Smith & Kid Smith

Family meaning how many people?


I am not saying what I did was correct but thats how I did mine.

Thank you Jennbaby! When I say 'family' I mean 2 parents and a kid(s).

Which kinda brings up ANOTHER Q. If a single parent is attending w/her child, should I put Jane Doe and Kid Doe?

or Jane Doe & son/daughter?

I would put

Parent: Mrs. jane Doe
Kid: Mr. John doe



as i said thats what i would do/did.
