Placecards

Placecards

Hi ladies,

Is anyone not using placecards on the tables? I will assign people to tables, but I had thought I would let them choose their seats. Or is this just not done?

I'm having a small wedding, and most people will know the others at their tables.

we're using placecard votives....and assigning people to a table...having 120 guests.

With the votives as placecards...because we are thinking about doing this....do they pick them up after the cocktail hour? I don't know if I want people to have to carry them around....how does that work?

i used to work at a catering hall and have never seen actual seats assigned...just tables...

for the votives... usually they are not lit until the end of the cocktail hour and guests are asked to not take them until then...

I would still to place cards so people don't over or undercrowd the tables.

Thank you for your replies (esp. the respondent who worked in a catering hall). I was starting to think I should do this--it seems as if the wedding mags often show pictures with the names at each seat. I don't believe I have ever gone to a wedding where the seats were assigned though, just the tables.

So, I'll probably make my life simple and just assign the tables. Thanks again!

No way are we doing placecards...too much to worry about! I do think the votive idea is lovely, but we're having a day wedding, and I think it would lose the effect. We're just going to do table cards to let people know where they are sitting, but let them pick their own seats.
