Does this sound right? I am doing my placecards like the invitations:
Married couples should get one card saying Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brown.
Unmarried couples get one card saying Mr. Joe Brown and Ms. Jane Doe.
Families with kids under 18 get one card saying the Brown Family.
Families with adult children: one card for the parents and one card for each adult children.

I'm doing one card for unmarried couples living together or in a serious relationship. It may not be proper etiquette but who cares? I recently went to a wedding and FH and I got separate cards and I thought it was weird.

Only as long as they are sitting together. If the kids are at a separate table, they should have their own place cards.
I also think that kids old enough to read might appreciate their own place cards... but that's not necessary.
