Placecards...I know this question has been asked, but I can't find it....

Placecards...I know this question has been asked, but I can't find it....

I know you do one placecard per couple with:
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
but what do you do for couples who aren't married? Do they each get their own placecard, or do they go on one:
Mr. Smith and Miss. Doe
Thanks!

One card
Mr. Smith and Miss. Doe

And pray that neither one has a long last name so it fits.

I may be wrong and this may seem rude, but I would put :

Mr. XOXOX and guest

I know most of the guests names...
If I don't I'll put and guest, but I just didn't know if couples that are not married should have separate placecards.

i put mr.xxxx and guest even if i knew the guest name! i think it is easier even if the mr. x is in the wedding party the other guest can still find the table card for them because they know who they came with!

I would do it the same way the invites where sent out. If they are a couple and u sent one invite one placecard.
The only reason why I would do it differently would be if there were children I would do them seperately (I think they would feel special)
I honestly think it is rude to put and guest if you know the persons name.

How would you feel being engaged if someone put MR XXX and guest on ur card. I would be Pi**ed that they knew us enough to invite us to their wedding but not enough to stick my name on it.
I am just sensitive to things like that.

you're right, and guest is rather impersonal...

this is too funny b/c i was just taking a shower and wondering this same question and i came to a conclusion. although i will know many of the guests names, there will be some people whose guests name i will not know and i feel that writing ...and guest isn't personal so chances are i will make a phone call when the time comes and find out the guests name so that i can put it on their card. i think that shows a bit more effort and will make the guest realize that i care that they are there. i am probably only doing this with less than a dozen people so it shouldn't make for an agonzing chore. if i had a majority of people who were and guest...i'd leave it. but i have been the 'and guest' person and i have always liked it when the bride, whom i didn't know, goes to find out my name. that is cool.
