Try Rana's in Merrick or Cafe Grappa in East Meadow.

I second Cafe Grappa - the food is great. They have a beautiful brunch there as well.

La Piazza on Merrick Road in Merrick Cafe Symposio on Sunrise in Bellmore I've heard alot of good things about Cafe Grappa in East Meadow and there is a new restaurant that opened in East Meadow too but I can't remember the name. It used to be a Japanese place. FH has delivered beer to the new place and said it's really nice.
